Principal's Message
We are officially in the second quarter of the year and it is already November! What I like about November is the theme of “Thankfulness” which is focused on this month. Despite all the negativity we see on T.V., on social media, and in our communities, there is still so much good and kindness surrounding us that sharing our gratitude to those around us is important. For example, I am thankful for our Hughes community which strives to support and take care of each other. Our community appreciated the unique strengths, talents, and assets that make this community vibrant. This month, I encourage everyone to engage in random acts of kindness, you will be amazed at how a small act of kindness will not only make someone else’s day a little brighter, but will also positively impact you. Find time to show gratitude however it works best for you during this month.
I also would like to remind everyone that Tuesday is Election Day. I encourage everyone to go out and vote!

Hughes Guidelines for Success
Hughes - A Green Ribbon School
Reusable Water Bottles: We encourage all students to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated and reduce our plastic waste.
Clean and Green: As a Green School, our students should not litter on or around campus. Please make sure that all items are thrown away and that we also pick up trash that we see when walking or sitting by it. When we ignore trash on the ground, we are saying that we are OK with trash on the ground, and that's not the Hughes way!
Walk, Bike, Carpool: To minimize the amount of CO2 we add to our environment as well as noise pollution from traffic, we encourage all our students to walk, bike, or carpool to school, when possible.
Join the Hughes PTA! Our goal is for our entire school community to be members!
