Work-Based Learning & Field Trip to the Farm

Students in Mrs. Vojnovski’s Work Based Learning class enjoyed a sunny day beautifying St. Clair High School. With assistance from the owner of Vandenbossche Farms, David, along with Patricia Biebuyck, students planted their mums in pots and placed them along the front entrance of the school.

Mrs. Vojnovski and paraprofessional Brenda Daniel assisted Landon, Gavin, Michael and Samantha in learning some skills to help them in the workplace. They learned to listen, share their ideas on where to place the planters, collaborate as a team and organize their work area. The result was not only a beautified entrance to the school, but lots of smiling faces!

Thank you Vandenbossche Farms for your time and for providing the mums and other material and making the student’s day a memorable one!

Thank you Vandenbossche Farms for hosting Ms. Weichert and Mrs. Vojnovski’s students! We had a great time on the hay ride and picking pumpkins in the pumpkin patch.

A special shout out to Neimans Family Market St. Clair along with Vandebossche Farms for contributing donuts and cider. As you can see, they were a hit!

Mrs. Malane’s physics class conducted an investigation to explore displacement. Students begin the first week of physics class by taking measurements outside to investigate the difference between distance and displacement. They are getting familiar with measuring using the metric system, working as a team, and collecting and analyzing data.

Allen Zhang was awarded a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit (NMSC) Scholarship Corporation. Students entered the National Merit Scholarship Program, a nationwide competition for recognition and awards conducted by NMSC, by taking the PSAT/NMSQT last October. In April, they identified the 50,000 highest scorers in the United States. "Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," commented a spokesperson for NMSC. "These students represent a valuable national resource, recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development , is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."

The Education and Early Childhood Development program at St. Clair TEC is designed to meet student interest and the local demand for Pre-K–12 teachers and skilled childcare workers. First-year students will explore careers in education, develop independent learning skills, and shadow a professional for a day or more. Second-year students will intern in a local school district, preschool, or childcare setting, working under a licensed professional or certified teacher's supervision. The two-year program will offer students the opportunity to earn a certificate in one of two areas of study—Early Childhood Education or Pre-K–12 Education. They will also have the opportunity to work toward one of the following industry credits: CDA Child Development Associates or MI-YDA Michigan Youth Development Associate.

We are proud to announce the following ECSD 2nd year students;

Kya Vettraino - Palms Elementary, Mrs. Visnaw's room

Caitlin Payne - Gearing Elementary, Mrs. Brosky's room

Faith Anderson - Woodlands, RESA

Emily Liebetreu - Pine River Elementary, Mrs. Kenyon's room

Jordan Fessenden - Marine City Middle School, Mrs. McLeod's room
