Principal's Message
Tēnā koutou katoa
Ngā mihi nui, kia koutou katoa - Warm greetings to you all.
Kia ora koutou,
Thank you to those parents who helped out distributing the playground bark recently, your assistance meant that we could have the playground opened quickly for the children. It was such a lovely community feeling having parents working alongside our caretakers and children ... thank you.
A very warm TPS welcome to Rustin Harrington, Sanjida Nur, Jahanzeb Hayat and Archie Seath who started recently at our school. We are glad to have you and your family as part of our TPS TEAM.
School Production - The Space Project
In Term 4 we are presenting our school production "THE SPACE PROJECT". All children except our newest New Entrants (Room 18) will be involved in this production.
We will be performing in the Performing Arts Centre at Bethlehem College. The evening shows will be held on the 18th and 19th of November. It is essential that all children can perform; please diary these dates now.
Auditions for the main roles were completed last week. These main characters will spend the rest of the term learning their lines. The whole school will start work on learning the production songs for the remainder of the term.
Congratulations to the following students who were selected for main roles:
The main characters
Madam President - Ava McCarthy

A school production is a considerable undertaking, with significant costs. We will be looking for businesses to partner with our school as sponsors for the show. Please contact me if you are interested in this opportunity.
You can access the show songs online if children want to practise at home: www.gobsmacked.nz - Username: taurangaprimary - Password: gsmack20.
Hangi:
In two weeks time we will be enjoying a whole school hangi. This is part of our Māori curriculum. We aim for all children to gain an understanding of this traditional method for cooking kai, learn some of the associated Tikanga (traditions), participate in the preparation of a shared meal, as well as have an opportunity to taste hangi food. Thank you to those school families who have offered to assist.
If you haven't already, please diary the Teacher Only Day for this term - 21st August (school will be closed) - and the Learning Conferences on the 17th September.
As always, thank you for your continued support.

Travel Safe Message
We offer a 2:50pm pick up and go option for Year 1 to 2 students. The aim of this initiative is to ease traffic congestion and make the 3:00pm exit from school safer for all children. We ask that you respect the rule that the junior playground is closed until 3:00pm. Thank you.
FOTS - Donut Friday
Peer Mediators
The peer mediators work in our school playgrounds to support children having difficulty. They have been trained to help children resolve playground disagreements.
If an issue is challenging, they leave it to the duty teacher to resolve.
Sometimes they help with problem solving, and sometimes they just make sure children have someone to play with.
As well as supporting their peers, they are developing their own skills, to listen and be empathetic, and to moderate and find compromise.
Thank you to Mediators of 2020 for your efforts to make our playgrounds peaceful and happy.
