Highlights from Week 17: January 4-8

Hello Families!

With the snow day on Monday and late start on Tuesday, it was a fast week in first grade! Its was great to see the kids again, and I loved hearing all about the fun they had over break.

In the classroom this week, we jumped back into the Daily 5, reading groups, personal narrative writing, and also chapter 4 in math. We even squeezed in two sessions of math workshop and Art Lit on Friday!

Sophie passed on her Top Dog duties to Wesley. We are sad to see Sophie go, but we know Wesley will do a great job too!

Check out our classroom updates, and as always, be sure to contact me with any questions. Hope you're enjoying some family time this weekend.

Art Literature: Aboriginal Art

A big THANK YOU to our volunteers who made Art Lit a success this week! The kids learned about the history of aboriginal art, and tried out some new artistic techniques.

Science Update

We will begin our air and weather unit of study next week. We will cover the following topics, air is matter, air takes up space, air makes things move, and how water and air cannot occupy the same space.
