Importance of Early Experiences in Science

"The National Science Teachers Association supports the notion that inquiry science must be a basic in the daily curriculum of every elementary school student at every grade level."

Students learn science best when....

  • they are involved in first-hand exploration and investigation
  • inquiry/process skills are nurtured
  • content is organized on the basis of broad conceptual themes
  • mathematics and communication skills are part of science instruction
  • problem-solving skills are developed

"The learning environment for elementary science must foster positive attitudes towards self and society, as well as science."

Grow and Learn with Discovery Education

Discovery Education offers PD opportunities throughout the year. Let's learn together. We will view and share different modules to deepen our understanding of the ScienceTechbook. This is an optional PD activity. We will meet once a month. Each module we watch will be used towards one hour of continuing ed credits. The dates are the following: 10/24, 11/14, 12/12, 1/23, 2/27, 3/27, 4/24, and 5/22.
