Covid 19- Update
Once again I would like to say a big thank you for your support, cooperation and understanding during the last month in particular. It has been a pleasure seeing the number of students that have returned back to school this week. Currently, we have 65% of students physically back at school. Let’s work together to see if we can reach 80% student attendance by next Friday. I think we can do it!
Have a great weekend

Covid-19 Key Changes
On Wednesday morning the Prime Minister announced changes to the COVID-19 Protection Framework which will take effect from 11.59pm this Friday 25 March, and to vaccine mandates and My Vaccine Pass, which will take effect from 11.59pm Monday 4 April.
New Zealand remains at Red. However, Cabinet will review the framework colour level on Monday 4 April.
COVID-19 Protection Framework, My Vaccine Pass and vaccination mandates
The removal of vaccination mandates for education workers will take effect from 11.59pm Monday 4 April.
The removal of the My Vaccine Pass from the COVID-19 Protection Framework (traffic light system) will occur on the same day.
Red Setting
There is no change to masks in education settings from the existing Red setting. Medical-grade masks remain a requirement for staff working indoors with children and young people in Years 4-13.
For all New Zealanders, including school settings, masks will not be required outdoors.
Capacity limits will be removed for outdoor events and activities.
Indoor capacity limits for extra-curricular activities increase to 200 people, or a maximum capacity based on the maximum number of people who could occupy the space if each person was one metre apart (whichever is lower).

Linc-Ed HERO
As a staff we are excited to be moving to the Linc-Ed Learning Management System. You will receive information about this and be asked to sign into it. This will be used instead of our school app and ETAP from Term 2 and will allow for improved home /kura connections. It has an app designed for working specifically on phones and computers and is very user friendly. Mid year reporting will still be via our traditional format but we will use the Hero reporting format for our Term 4 reporting. Please look out for more information on this.
Benefits of Hero:
Fully interactive for staff, students and whānau, increasing agency hugely, reducing teacher workload and strengthening connections between school and home. Will enhance our ability to communicate with you.
In line with the latest learning pedagogy and provides continuous data that moves with the child and allows for more in-depth information to start learning from each year. Will assist with completing our curriculum review and assessment.
Designed specifically for school by teachers, parents, and principals and upgraded regularly. Hero gives a digital platform for reporting, assessing, planning and communication.
Mufti Day Next Friday....
Pukeko Syndicate
During Week 7, Rooms 6, 7 & 8 (Pukeko Syndicate) joined forces to investigate Sea Week!
"Sea Week is held annually in New Zealand and is run by the New Zealand Association for Environmental Education (NZAEE), a non-profit group that promotes education on sustainability. It is a national week about the sea and encourages Kiwi's to renew their relationship with our oceans and to learn about the amazing creatures that live within it."
Teachers and students read books, watched educational clips and created a variety of art projects. Collage mobiles, collaborative poster art, 3D sea creations and hot/cold coloured sea mammals have all been put together to form an amazing ' Under the Sea' walk through display in the Room 7 & 8 cloak bay. Check out a snippet of the fantastic work on display, and then head on over to the Pukeko class blogs for more!
Yay...we will be selling Juicies and Moosies again next week!!!
