Message From the Principal
Happy Friday Titans!
We have completed our first week of 8th-grade Georgia Milestones testing, and it is going splendidly. Thank you to 8th-grade parents for sending your children on time, well-rested, and ready to give their best on the test! Thank you also to our Assistant Principal in charge of testing, Ayo Richardson, to our proctors and teachers, and our IT Tech, Vani Jacob.
8th-grade Georgia Milestones testing will resume on Monday, April 22 to April 24. End of Course Testing (EOCT) for 9th-grade and 10th-grade high school subjects will commence on Wednesday, April 24th, and go until May 1st. Georgia Milestone Testing for the 6th and 7th grade will take place starting from May 6th to May 10th. Parents of 6th-grade and 7th grade students, please note that students are still actively receiving instruction and it is essential that your children come ready to learn each day. 8th-grade parents, keep up the excellent work getting students to school each day rested with a good breakfast either at home or school.
I hope parents, teacher, and staff had an opportunity to meet Dr. Mike Looney, the Fulton County Schools Finalist, at the Katha Stuart Community Meeting at Roswell High School on Wednesday or one of the other opportunities this past week. I, along with all the other principals, had a chance to meet and hear Dr. Looney's vision for the students of Fulton County. I was impressed by what Dr. Looney had to say in terms of his focus on the overall health, well-being, and academic achievement of students. If you did not have a chance to meet him in person, please take a moment to read the information posted on the Fulton County Schools website about Dr. Mike Looney.
I want to invite all students, families, and teachers/staff to register with "Team Titan" at Hembree Runs Wild 5K on Saturday, April 27th. Mrs. Ingram, 7th-grade ELA teacher/Running Club Chair, has put together a Hembree Runs Wild "Team Titan" for all who wish to join in the fun. Register for the Race on Active, either as an individual entry or join "Team Titan" by using the code: 11290. Please come out to run the race and to enjoy the festival at our feeder school!
Sincerely,
Kindra L. Smith, Ed.S

MILESTONES & EOCT INFO
Georgia Milestones Info
The Georgia Milestones is a comprehensive, end-of-grade (EOG) assessment program given in middle school to grades 6-8. Georgia Milestones measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards in English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. The Georgia Milestones Assessments provide a measurement of student achievement: what they have learned and can do at the end of their grade level year (as described in the expectations stated in the Georgia Performance Standards). The primary purpose of Georgia Milestones is to improve student achievement by providing information that guides plans for improving teaching and learning.
What types of questions will be on the Georgia Milestones Assessments?
• Open-ended (constructed response) items in English Language Arts and math
• A writing component within the English Language Arts Assessments (in response to passages read by students)
• Nationally norm-referenced items to provide a national comparison, alongside criterion-referenced items
• Multiple choice items
Parents are our partners! Please see the links below for more information about Georgia.
