Parent Panther Pride
Team Alexander, We Stick Together!
Hello Panther Families!
We are so excited to be preparing for the 20-21 school year! We want to be sure you have updated information about registration.
Currently, students will have two options of attending school in the fall. Parents can choose to send their child to school for face to face learning (with safety protocols in place) or they can choose to stay at home and do an on-line learning option called Connected Learning.
There are a few changes this year:
Registration will be ALL online this year! We will no longer have the in-person registration week July 28-30. The registration links are live now.
The online registration needs to be completed whether your child will be in school face to face or through Connected Learning.
Please visit the rest of the newsletter to view important Denton ISD & Alexander Elementary 2020-2021 Information.
Stay Connected!
Information may change as we receive further guidance from federal, state, and local agencies. You can find updated information on the district website. We will post updates on our Alexander Elementary facebook page, as well as our campus webpage at https://www.dentonisd.org/alexanderes .
If you have further questions about Connected Learning expectations, registration, or "all things Alexander", please do not hesitate to contact us! Until then....enjoy the rest of your summer. We hope you are all doing well!
All my best,
Lindsay Henderson

Here are the steps to complete 2020-2021 Registration:
Go to www.dentonisd.org/registration. Click the appropriate link for either new or returning student. If you have a returning student and you have not received your snapcode, please call our office next week and our office staff will send it to you.
When you complete the verification portion, you will be sent a link to complete registration by uploading required documents. You can find a list of those documents at the website above.
If you are enrolling your child for face-to-face (in person) learning, then you are done with registration once the documents are uploaded!
If you are choosing Connected Learning (virtual/online instruction), you’ll need to complete the “Connected Learning Commitment Form” on the district’s main page under the Universal Quick Links. This form must be completed no later than August 12th. (There is a question on the registration that asks if you are interested in Connected Learning. That is just to let us know the interest level so we can start planning for potential Connected Learning staff. You'll need to complete the separate form if you decide to do Connected Learning.)
Connected Learning...
If you are interested in the Connected Learning option, please go to the district’s Connected Learning page at https://www.dentonisd.org/connectedlearning for details . Please know that the learning expectations will be much higher than in the Spring.
Students engaging in the Connected Learning option are required to learn the same standards (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) as students learning face to face.
There are daily expectations to log in for work completion and lesson activity engagement. Teachers will be using a platform called SeeSaw.
Teachers will keep close contact with parents and students to discuss their learning engagement and academic progress.
Teacher contact with students through live (synchronous) instruction will be during normal school hours. Asynchronous instruction (students and teachers do not have to be online at the same time together), such as instructional videos, will be posted daily for students to view and complete assignments.
Connected Learning teachers are working in the building with their face to face grade level peers and planning with them as usual, to ensure instructional alignment.

Chromebook Return:
If your child is not returning to Alexander this year, either face to face or Connected Learning, and you checked out a Chromebook during the closure, please contact our office as soon as possible at 940-369-3500 to schedule a drop-off time. We will need them by August so our tech support can clean and re-inventory the devices.
TABLE TO TRUNK MEAL SERVICE
Denton County and the City of Denton will continue to provide meals to children under 18 this summer. Alexander will be a meal site June 1- August 21, 2020.
For more information, refer to this article- Denton Record Chronicle "A Summer of Changes for Denton ISD"
When visiting Alexander Elementary for meals, families will be asked to remain in their vehicles and indicate the number of students to be served. Staff members will place the requested number of meals in the trunk, eliminating any person-to-person contact.
Moving forward, our staff is working to bundle multiple meals, food for several days, in an effort to honor the precautionary “Stay-at-Home” order.
