Shin splints is acute pain in the shin and lower leg caused by prolonged running.


- A dull ache in the front part of the lower leg

- Pain on either side of the shin bone

- Swelling in lower leg

- Numbness and weakness in feet

Treatment for shin splints

- Keep your legs elevated

- Use ice packs to reduce swelling

- Wear compression bandages

How to prevent shin splints

- Wear shoes that fit well

- Warm up before exercising

- Barefoot running

- Stretch properly
