Monday 25 May- Return to School
A note from the Principal's desk
Dear families,
Wow... a lot happens in one week!As you are aware, all students will return on Monday 25 May. The announcement caught us all by surprise, but I can assure you we are well prepared and looking forward to your children coming back next week.
Below I have provided you with a copy of the advice to parents supplied by the Department of Education.
School lessons will resume as normal, but there will be some changes during the day. I have outlined our school specific arrangements below.
I know I have thanked you a number of times for your support at the end of last term and the start of his one, we have really appreciated the time and effort you have put in working with your children.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the teachers at CPPS for their tireless work. A friend jokingly commented last week about my extended holiday. I assured her that the last 9 weeks have been anything but a holiday for the teachers at CPPS or myself, in fact, most teachers gave up their scheduled break/holiday to produce videos, plan new lessons and work on a multitude of plans for term 2. No one knew what the future held for his term. I would even go so far as to say that the last 9 weeks has possibly been the hardest time to be a parent and/or a teacher in the 25 years I have been working in Education. I do however think that we all have greater knowledge of each other and families have a greater knowledge of what school looks like in 2020 and I hope that is something we can build on as we move forward. Thank you all.
I wish all our families a great weekend and I also wish our Muslim families a wonderful Eid. I know we will all come back next week, refreshed and ready get on with teaching and learning.

Week 5 Onwards
Morning - KISS & DROP at the Augusta Street gate only. This will be open from 8:20. If your child arrives early, please direct them to the coloured seats beside the gate. Teachers commence duty at 8:30. No parents/carers are allowed on the playground. Please do not use the driveway gates if you find them open.
Water: Bubblers can not be used, please provide your children with a water bottle with their name on.
Lunch: The canteen will only be open Tuesday - Friday in week 5 and Monday - Friday from week 6 onward. There is a limited menu to start and information will be sent out in the app. Parents are not allowed on the premises, so please ensure orders are written on a bag or an envelope for students to hand in. QuickCliq online ordering is available.
Hand washing: Will take place at regular intervals during the day.
Pencil Cases and Equipment: To be provided by the students if possible.
End of Day
This is our biggest change. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.
Students will be collected from an allocated gate from 2:45. This is to ease congestion and to enable parents to socially distance outside the school grounds. I have attached a map of the school gates we will be using. Students have been allocated to a gate based on their surname, to enable siblings to be together and parents only have to worry about one gate.
Please arrive at the gate, advise one of the teachers at the gate which child you are picking up and wait for the child to be called. Please do not wait in the gateway, please stand to the side and allow the next parent to speak to the teacher.
Students who walk home will not be able to leave the school grounds until 3pm as usual.
We will trial these arrangement in week 5 and make adjustments if we feel they are necessary.
We have 577 students that need to leave the premises between 2:45 and 3pm, these are unprecedented times and I thank you for your cooperation and patience.

NSW Department of Education A guide for parents cand carers
This guide is for parents and carers
Information has been updated as at 19 May 2020, until further notice.
Schools are safe and open for full time face-to-face learning.
All schools are returning to full on-campus learning from Monday 25 May. All school activities and operations will be in line with Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) and NSW Health guidelines as applicable.
School students do not need to follow physical distancing guidelines, but should follow good hygiene practices like:
· Regularly washing hands
· Avoiding sharing drinks or food
· Coughing or sneezing into your elbow, or a tissue which should be discarded immediately.
School attendance
All students should be at school unless:
· They have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition
· They are currently unwell.
Students who have a medical certificate to stay at home will be supported to learn from home in line with regular procedures if they are able to. These regular procedures are different to what was offered during the learning from home period. If you require work to be provided to your child whilst they are at home due to an underlying health condition, you should contact the school for assistance.
Please note, students who live with a family member in one of the categories identified as being at increased risk by the AHPPC, should attend school unless a medical practitioner advises otherwise in writing.
If your child is unwell, do not send them to school. If they are unwell at school you or your nominated emergency contact will need to collect them immediately. Please make sure your contact details are up to date.
If a student is absent without a medical reason for more than three days, this will be recorded as an unauthorised absence and followed up by the school.
If you need any support to get your child back to school, please contact your school.
Reporting and assessment
This will be a simplified version of the report you normally receive. Schools are encouraged to discuss your child’s progress with you before the written report is issued. You will receive your child’s semester 1 report by the end of term (at CPPS).
School activities
What schools can’t do:
· School assemblies
· School incursions and excursions including camps
· Inter-school activities (debating, inter-school sport)
· In-school activities requiring parent or other volunteers
· Drink from a water bubbler – bring a water bottle instead
· Allow parents to enter the school grounds at pick up and drop off times
School cleaning and hygiene supplies
Your school will receive additional cleaning in line with the AHPPC guidelines and advice from NSW Health. Targeted areas include high-touch areas and other hard surfaces, door handles, lockers, light switches and handrails in stairways and movement areas. There will also be additional cleaning of toilets and bubblers and topping up of supplies like soap.
Your school has received supplies of soap, hand sanitiser, toilet paper, paper towels, disinfectant wipes and personal protective equipment. The school is able to order more as needed.
School grounds
There should be no visitors to school sites unless they are essential. Your school can provide guidance as to who is considered essential.
Your school will provide advice on drop off and pick up procedures.
Canteens and uniform shops can open at the discretion of the principal.
Community use of school facilities will recommence only for uses that are necessary for continuation of education and with principal’s approval.
Responding to COVID-19 cases
There is a clear plan in place for schools to respond to any suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our schools. We are working closely with NSW Health and will communicate with parents if a situation was to arise
