The technology department was recently awarded a DaVinci 3D Printer through the Carl Perkins Grant from Region 10. Although the software allows one to print a plethora of creations, technology classes have printed a sample Lion and Lighthouse to learn about calibration and maintenance when 3D printing. The department plans to complete several STEM projects using cross-curricular objectives from the Math and Science departments.

On Saturday, April 30, Van Alstyne High School Percussionists held their very first spring concert. VAHS Percussion held performances ranging from 6th grade middle school ensembles to percussion students in high school. Solo performances were also held by a few chosen students including an 8th grader and some HS students.Van Alstyne Percussion will be continuing their spring concerts in the future bi-annually. Hopefully we'll see you in 2018 by then.

Van Alstyne ISD in partnership with Region 10 Education Service Center and Youth Digital is offering 2 Digital Youth Camps this summer for students age 10 -16.

Youth Digital empowers kids and teens to be digital creators, designers, animators, programmers and developers. The course work provides campers a comprehensive learning experience that is amazingly fun, highly interactive and extremely effective. Campers watch videos, respond to questions, earn badges, and complete challenging assignments and quizzes as they step toward mastering critical technology skills and professional-level software. Computers are provided at the camp site. No prior programming or design experience is necessary. Youth Digital summer camp courses are designed to make learning new digital skills fun and effective. Campers will be guided through every step, from downloading the software to submitting your final project.

The 1st camp is called: Learn Java with Minecraft. Students will learn the programming language of Java while having fun playing Minecraft.

The 2nd camp is called: 3-D Game Design and students will learn to create their own game.
