March 21- March 25, 2016

Big image

Thank you!

As we enter a very busy time of the year, please remember that you have a tremendous impact on students, staff, parents and their opportunities for generations to come! The most successful leaders are able to deliver expectations while inspiring others by making them feel confident! In the words of Maya Angelou, "People will never forget how you made them feel." Although the answer may not always be exactly what someone wants to hear, how they feel with you will make all of the difference! Thanks for being such great leaders!

Campus Visits

BAUI

Ensure you review all allocations to propose corrections prior to Wednesday. All Bilingual needs should be addressed and corrected utilizing current and historical enrollment trends for your school. Please do your best to work these out prior to Wednesday. Ensure that you review anticipated losses and determine if this loss is accurate.

Attendance for Credit

I emailed you the most current Attendance for Credit report a couple of weeks ago. You must review in detail and monitor the corrections/refinements/updates. Only administrators should be assisting with the process. If you have any questions, feel free to call me or the contact listed on the actual report. The plans are a policy and legal requirement, please be diligent in ensuring all recommendations are completed this week.

Failure Plans

Please complete and send me your failure plans by Thursday afternoon. We need to ensure all plans are in place with the most recent six weeks. If you have had a teacher complete a plan more than once, please explain to me how you are supporting and addressing this need.

Conflict Resolution

During the spring, there are many processes that can increase potential conflict. What training have you provided for your staff? What are you expectations for teachers, parents, and leadership? How do you address a matter that was not conducted to your satisfaction? What follow-up is needed to ensure that all stakeholders feel supported even when there is a conflict or disagreement?

Spots

Please review your spot data and ensure all leaders are up to date. Additionally, you should review feedback from assistant principals to ensure the feedback is effective utilizing the assistant principal rubric (provide written feedback). The principal should have a calendar with due dates for administrators prior to the district due date. Formative weekly checks should be conducted to ensure teachers are receiving timely feedback.

Schedules- Elementary

Please be prepared to show me your elementary schedules during my visits next week.

Field Trips- Spring (Legal Guidance) Policy FMG and FMD Local

Please consider an internal suggested field trip deadline for the semester to ensure that you are aware of all out of county trips which may involve multiple approvals (i.e. contracts, out of county, etc.). At this time, we need to ensure that any field trips are instructional. Any activity that is hosted by the campus should follow FMG and FMD local policy. Feel free to call me or student services/activities for any guidance on field trips.

Please consider working on the crowd-funding available on the Dallas ISD website for currently planned field trips.

Summer Education- Crystal Rentz/Veronica Martinez-Cantu

How can we ensure each student is involved and parents have information regarding summer activities/opportunities? How can the campus communicate work with the community or partners? Please review your packet of information from our last meeting for details on "Big Thought" and determine how to best support this communication to families/students.

Remember, you should already be preparing a list of students for summer school and working with families through review of RtI. Veronica Martinez-Cantu or Crystal Rentz are available if you have any questions regarding how to support summer school. Remember, all campus principals are required to conduct their own SSI summer programs.
