Situation at the Provincial Capitol remains normal

CEBU CITY, Jan 16 (PIA) --- President Aquino today downplayed the so-called "political crisis" in Cebu, saying there is no such thing as a “standoff” at the Provincial Capitol.
Aquino, in his first visit to the province of Cebu this year, said that everything is functioning normally at the Provincial Capitol under the leadership of acting Governor Agnes Magpale.
Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia has refused to vacate her office at the executive building of the Capitol since December 19 last year when she was served an order from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) putting her under a six-month suspension. READ MORE

Free seminar on employees compensation program slated

CEBU CITY, Jan 16 (PIA) --- The Employees Compensation Commission (ECC) will gather employers in Cebu for a one-day seminar on the Employees Compensation Program (ECP).
Around 150 employers and human resource officers from the private and public sectors are expected to attend the free seminar on Jan. 24 at the Waterfront Hotel, said Ingrid Zafra Yumang of the ECC in Cebu. READ MORE

CEBU CITY, Jan. 16 (PIA) -- The opening of the shipyard operations of a global defence prime contractor in Balamban town, Cebu today highlighted the growing reputation of Filipino workers as world-class ship builders.
President Benigno S. Aquino III, who graced the grand opening of Austal Philippines’ shipyard facility in Brgy. Arpili, Balamban, said the Philippines is now the fourth largest shipbuilding country in the world.
“In 2011, our ship exports reached $638 million,” said Aquino, adding that this is 57.9 percent higher from the previous year. READ MORE

PNoy calls on Cebuanos to support admin senatorial slate
Call aims to support his ‘Tuwid Na Daan’ governance

CEBU CITY, Jan 16 (PIA) -- President Benigno S. Aquino III called on Cebuanos to support the administration’s senatorial slate to continue the economic gains steadily achieved under his administration.
Aquino, who spoke before over 5,000 crowd at the Mandaue City Sports Complex noontime today, said that in two years and six months time since he was installed into office, Philippine stock exchange index rose to its highest, resulting to increased investors’ confidence.
Other programs of his administration that posted positive gains were on tourism as he stressed its popular slogan, “It’s More Fun to be in the Philippines” and the increased collection revenues of the Bureau of Internal Revenue. READ MORE
