Yearbook Cover Contest
Yearbook Cover Contest
Calling all Panther artists: Enter your drawing for a chance to have it
displayed on our 2019/2020 yearbook cover!
Rules:
Pictures must go with our theme, “One Giant Leap.” and include our Panther Mascot.
All drawings must be turned in to the front office by November 8th, with no exceptions.
This contest is meant to showcase students’ artistic talent - all artwork must be original and student drawn.
All drawings should be submitted on white 8.5x11 cardstock, which can be picked up at the front office. Please do not put the student’s name on the artwork. Each child will receive an envelope to put the artwork in when they turn it in. On the outside of the envelope is where their name, grade, and teacher will need to be written. All envelopes received must be sealed.
Artwork must be done in pencil, colored pencils, crayons or markers. No 3D elements.
We will have grade-level winners as well as an overall winner!
Student Council
Parents,
This year we are accepting box tops all year long. In the fall semester, they can be turned in to your child's teacher with your child's name and the teacher's name throughout the semester. The top five students in each grade level will get to attend breakfast with Santa. We will collect box tops again in the spring semester, and the top five students in each grade level will get to attend a popsicle party outside on the playground.
In addition to turning in box tops the old fashion way, you can now also download the app to have your earnings count toward your student in each of these competitions. When you download the app and create an account, be sure to select Pine Forest Elementary in Humble, Tx to ensure your box tops go towards our school as there are multiple Pine Forest Elementary schools.
Each time you shop, open your app and take a picture of your receipt to submit, and it will show you how much you have earned for PFE. At the end of each semester by the due dates for the competition be sure to screenshot your app and send the photo in an email to pedward@humbleisd.net to have your earnings go toward your student. In the email please be sure to include your student's name, teacher's name, and their grade. We can also split them evenly among all of your children if that info is provided.
To participate in earning box tops, be sure that all paper box tops and emailed screenshots are turned in by December 6th, 2019 to be in the running for breakfast with Santa and by May 8th to be in the running for the popsicle party.
Thanks,
Payton Edwards & Jennifer Howard

Be Safe Be Seen on Halloween
Top tips
Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors.
Since masks can sometimes obstruct a child’s vision, try non-toxic face paint and makeup whenever possible.
Make sure props are smooth and flexible enough to not cause injury.
Choose costumes that fit well and will not pose a tripping hazard.
Have kids use glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers.
Children under the age of 12 should not be alone at night without adult supervision
Never, ever go into a stranger’s house or even ring their door for treats unless parents are with you and say that it's okay.
Be careful when crossing streets. Look in both directions and make sure there are no cars approaching
Instruct children not to eat any treats until they bring them home to be examined by parents.
