CJH Weekly Update
Staff - The Week of April 15th
All The Things You Need To Know....
We will be testing on Wednesday for 8th Grade M-Step Science. Students will report to their usual 2nd hour class at the start of 2nd hour at 10:00am. Students will eat breakfast, while you take attendance. I will allow about 10 minutes and I will then dismiss the 8th graders to their testing rooms. The testing rooms will be very similar to last time.
- Students must bring a Chromebook to testing.
- I will provide Test Tickets to classroom supervisors prior to testing with rosters.
- Please take attendance on the roster and return all tickets, separated by used and unused.
- Online Test Directions
- Test Administration Manual
Thursday testing for Social Studies - Students will report to 1st hour and I will allow time for attendance before calling them to the cafeteria for breakfast. Students will eat breakfast and then report to their testing rooms. Testing rooms for Wednesday and Thursday will be the same.
Half Day Lunches
Our Kitchen Staff will have lunches set out by the start of 6th hour on our 1/2 day schedule. Please have students grab a lunch at the start of 6th hour if they would like one. The kitchen staff will be collecting the totes 15 minutes after the start of 6th hour. That doesn't mean that they need to eat it at that time, you may have them wait till the end of the hour. But I do ask that they have an opportunity to eat before they leave.
Once everyone has had an opportunity to grab a lunch, you may then allow students to take an additional lunch if they would like. The lunches have already been accounted for at that point.
Social Media Monitoring for Security
As in previous years, the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) will be using a social media monitoring service during testing to watch for security issues (and only for security issues). For example, if a student or staff member were to post a photo of test questions, the testing environment, or some other aspect of the test administration, that would be a security violation and the MDE would seek to have that post removed.
Please refrain from posting anything on your personal or professional pages regarding testing.
Chromebook Settings for Testing
Please make sure that all students have restarted their Chromebooks prior to testing. This will insure that all updates have completed installation. In addition we should also have them all check their keyboard settings prior to testing.
When testing on Chromebooks, the keyboard must be set to US Keyboard. If it is not set this way, the student will not be able to use quotation marks or apostrophes in text boxes.
BEFORE testing: select "Settings" then "Keyboard Settings" and select "US Keyboard"
DURING testing: click anywhere outside of the text box and press CTRL + SHIFT + SPACE BAR to select "US Keyboard"
