A Weekly Look at Grant Elementary School & the Grant PTA
Week of May 5, 2020
A Message From Principal Grey
Dear Grant Community,
To the Grant staff,
I am so thankful that there is a week set aside for our school community to shower with you with appreciation. Please know that not a day goes by where I don't see your dedication and commitment to our kids and value each and every one of you for your contribution to our wonderful school. Whether it's a normal school day when we can all be together on campus, on a zoom call with your class, or picking up the phone in the office to give reassurance to a community member, you give it your all.
Thank you so very much for all that you do,
Amanda
End of the Year Pick Up of Student Work, Friday, 5/22
On Friday, May 22nd we will be passing out student work and belongings. We will implement the same drive-through system that we did at the start of Distance Learning.
Come to the normal Grant drop off/pick up zone so that you can drive by and pick up a paper bag with your student's materials. In order to limit the number of people coming by at once, we have broken up the school into 4 groups based on last names. Here is the pickup schedule for Friday, May 22nd:
- 9:00 am-10:00 am: Last Names A-G
- 10:15 am 11:15 am Last Names H-N
- 11:30 am- 12:30 pm-Last Names O-U
- 12:45pm- 1:45pm-Last Names V-Z
Congratulations, Ms. Terri Sherseth!
Our wonderful Speech-Language Pathologist, Terri Sherseth, is retiring at the end of this school year! She began her career 33 years ago in Marin, working with preschool-12th graders at 13 different schools before moving to Petaluma schools in 2003. She has been with our school district for 17 years and we are so grateful for her commitment, spirit, and dedication to her students. Needless to say, she has influenced the lives of many, many students and families and has helped our kids to become better strong speakers, listeners, and well-rounded citizens in our ever-changing world.
Though she will miss her time with students and other educators, she looks forward to doing more of what she loves; riding her bike, gardening, hiking, walking/running, reading, and after the world heals? Skiing everywhere there is good snow, traveling in the Fall, camping, visiting her daughters in Seattle and San Diego anytime she wants, and of course, doing practicing yoga.
We will miss you, Terri and wish you all the very best that retirement has to offer!
PCS Innovations Showcase
This year PCS will be celebrating student creativity virtually with short videos from students throughout Petaluma City Schools (TK-12) who want to demonstrate their creativity through art, music, dance, science, film, writing, math, or any other unique way! Students who participate will be awarded a gift certificate from one of our sponsors, Applebees and Mary's Pizza.
Timeline:
- May 1-17: Flipgrid open for student submissions
- May 21-30: Innovations Showcase opens on Flipgrid for public viewing
