I would like to take the time to wish everyone a very happy holiday season. Please be safe during the two week break and we look forward to starting another year serving the great families of Washington School. Our classes will resume on Monday, January 6, 2020.

Attendance Matters

We are excited to share our new Attendance Matters initiative to promote the importance of good attendance. Each month we will update our display board to show which grade scored an ATTENDANCE TOUCHDOWN. Congratulations to our 3rd Graders for having the highest attendance during the month of November.

Viking Spirit Award Winner

Each month the district recognizes one student from each building that goes above and beyond the call of duty. Washington Elementary is proud of the following student who received this recognition. Congratulations to Jacob Benoit.

Safety of Students

Supervision in the morning does not begin until 8:00 am. Many students are arriving before 8:00 am and waiting outside and in the vestibule area. These students are unsupervised and many are not following school rules and are causing a disruption, as well as being a safety issue. If you need daycare before 8:00 am please contact the Marysville Children Center to get signed up Latchkey in our building. The Marysville Children's Center phone number is 364-3165.

Winter Weather

Please send your child to school every day prepared for outdoor recess. Students need snow pants and boots to be able to leave the blacktop during snowy conditions. Having proper winter clothing (snow pants, boots, hats and gloves) will allow students to participate in outdoor recess. Students that are not properly prepared for the weather are often very disappointed because they cannot use the playground equipment or play in the snow.

As the cold weather approaches we find that many students are in need of warm weather gear. We have been very fortunate to have coats, hats, and mittens donated to our office to allow students to borrow outdoor gear during recess. However, we could use gently used snow pants and boots. If anyone finds that their children may have outgrown these items and would be willing to donate them to our school, we would greatly appreciate it.

STP Highlights

STP is our school Parent/Teacher Group, they work very hard all year by organizing fun and exciting fundraising events like our Fun Run, Movie Nights etc. Please consider attending the next STP meeting on Monday, January 13th at 6:30pm. This is a great opportunity to learn how you can be more involved in your child's school and connect with other parents!

We would like to thank all the parents who have donated through our fundraisers or who have donated their time to make our events possible. We truly appreciate your continued support.
