Translation of the Principal's Weekly

Just a reminder that the website I use to create my weekly newsletters, now has translation in many different languages. Here are the steps to have it translated:

At the top of the weekly email, there's a link that reads "View it in your browser," click that and it takes you to the post on a webpage.

Scroll to the bottom where there's a black menu bar and pick the option that says "Translate."

Select the language you would like it translated in and it will then translate it on the webpage.

A Message From Principal Choquette 5/24/19

Dear Families,

I hope you all had a nice week. We are beginning to wind down the school year with end of the year activities. If you are planning on volunteering for field trips or for anything at school such as field day, you must get a CORI. Families may not attend field day with their children and if you would like to volunteer to work at field day please stop in and fill out the CORI paperwork. The office that takes care of the CORI checks is backed up, so you should anticipate a couple of weeks for the CORI to go through. Our field day is June 7th, 2 weeks from today! Also, if you are volunteering to work at field day, the PTO will be covering the cost of your lunch. Thank you PTO!

We've had some issues come up on the playground with students throwing rocks and brining rocks to school from home as well as digging them up and putting them in the clubhouse. Yesterday, we had some students throw rocks over the fence at the construction site hitting one of the workers. I received a call from the head of the construction project asking me to speak to the students about it. If you could also have a conversation at home, it would be greatly appreciated.

We are still waiting to hear about the Breakfast in the Classroom/Breakfast for all grant. I am hopeful that we will received this grant and will be able to feed all of our students breakfast at no charge.

Have a great weekend.

BSS Girls On the Run are having a bake sale on Friday, May 31st, from 3pm-4pm to benefit the Dakin Humane Society. At the end of the GOTR season, the girls plan a way to help those around them by creating a Community Impact Project. This year, the girls at BSS voted to raise funds to help Dakin, a community supported animal welfare organization that provides shelter, medical care, spay/neuter services, and behavioral rehabilitation for more than 20,000 animals each year. Come buy a treat and help homeless animals in our community! The bake sale will take place on the BSS playground!

SASH-Northampton High Schoolers

Bridge Street School families,

We would love to invite any and all interested 4th and 5th graders to join our student-run after school program, SASH. SASH is a program that teaches and encourages social emotional learning, and works to bridge the gap between high school and elementary school students. Our work is based on the arts; music, writing, acting and improv, and mixed media. Our goal is to create a place where students feel safe to express their thoughts and feelings through these creative focuses. This program will run once a week, and at the end of our 10 week session we will be hosting a final showcase at Northampton High School. We are so happy and excited to be sharing this program with your students this coming fall. Permission slips and sign up sheets will be delivered in September of 2019.

(Northampton High schoolers)

On June 13th, there will be an informational meeting for students who are currently in grades 3-5. If you are interested in joining students to hear this presentation by the high school students, please feel free to join us at 9:00 a.m. on the 13th. If you have any questions prior to the informational session, please feel free to contact me.

Mrs. Richards is looking for some volunteers who are tech savvy to help in the library with removing and adding books into the online system. If you are interested, please contact her at

On June 4th at 3:30 p.m. we will hold an "official opening" ceremony of our new library. Lite refreshments will be served by our PTO. We hope you can join us!

Hiring Committees

We will be looking for parents to sit on hiring committees for various positions that open. It is always first come first serve. Please email me if you are interested in sitting on any of our committees. At this time, I am requesting 2 special education parents to sit on the committees for hiring a full-time BCBA and special education teacher. I will also pick back-ups in case the parents on the committee can't attend the dates we hold interviews. Please specify which committee you would like to be on. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
