HCS Unitary Status Community Meeting - March 14th
The Hoover City School District is part of a longstanding school desegregation case, Stout v. Jefferson County Board of Education (Hoover City Schools). The federal judge supervising the case previously ordered the Parties (the Hoover City Board of Education, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund) to review the District’s operations and decide what steps the District needs to take before the court will grant the District unitary status and end the case. The Parties have now developed a plan to accomplish this.
Because public input on this plan is an important part of the process, the Parties will jointly hold a community meeting to discuss the plan and obtain feedback, comments, and thoughts on the plan related to faculty and staff assignment, student discipline, school facilities, extracurricular activities, gifted and talented programs, and advanced course offerings. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on March 14, 2019, at Trace Crossings Elementary School, 5454 Learning Lane, Hoover 35244.
Parents, employees, and interested community members are all welcome to attend.
