This upcoming Monday our District is observing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday. The MDUSD Board passed Resolution 39 in recognition of this day, for Dr. King's birthday, and to commemorate the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom by living our shared MDUSD values, striving for righteousness, and bringing goodness to others. I've provided some resources in this newsletter about Dr. King's life and also local volunteer opportunities.
Some questions have arisen regarding our picture day. These pictures will be used for this year's yearbook photo, ID card, and an updated photo in our Student Information System(Aeries/HomeLink), as well as packets of images to share with your families and friends. Please see below for more details.
We have a Dine and Donate next Tuesday followed by a Foothill MS PFA meeting on Wednesday. Please tune in for information for this year and looking forward to next year. While we are remaining in Distance Learning through the 3rd quarter our staff will continue to work on making this learning the best possible and how to meet the needs of our students. Please see that I've included a Parent's Guide to Distance Learning that has been developed by UC San Diego.
Currently I am looking for a few parents and students to participate in a focus group, with the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence. The details are below if you have an interest, your participation would be appreciated.
Please take care, be safe, and well.
Sincerely your Foothill principal.
~Mrs. Vaiana
The District is working with the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence and will beholding focus group meetings for teachers, students and parents. CCEE is partnering with Mt. Diablo Unified to assist us on our path to improvement in pupil achievement. Mt. Diablo was identified because three or more pupil groups did not make progress based on the CA School Dashboard. Those student groups include African American students, Foster Youth, and students experiencing homelessness. We have been asked for at east 2 parent volunteers to participate in this process. Please email Mrs. Vaiana at vaianak@mdusd.org if you are interested.
The focus group sessions for parents are:
Tuesday, January 19th from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm and Wednesday, January 27th from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm (please let us know if any translation services will be needed)
