Hello Hoover
September 29, 2023
C Week Rotation Schedule
October is here!
Hello Hawk families,
October is here! This means that in two weeks from Tuesday (October 17, 2023), report cards will be accessible on Focus. As an administrative team, we reviewed our discipline and academic data and here are a few reminders we shared with students during morning announcements:
· Students are expected to walk in the hallways, rather than running.
· Students are expected to arrive to class on time.
· Students are encouraged to check their grades on Focus and turn in any missing or late assignments.
Please continue to help us reinforce these expectations at home, and do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or concerns. All students who earned only As and Bs in their report card will receive an Honor Roll certificate and will be recognized as a group during morning announcements.
Here are some safety resources our district has made available for our community to students:
1. SpeakOut 800.423.TIPS
SpeakOut Hotline is designed to help you anonymously report any threatening behavior or situation that endangers you, your friends, family, community, or your school campus. Reporting isn't "snitching,” reporting is when you need to keep yourself or someone you know safe from threats, harmful behaviors, or dangerous situations.
By guaranteeing a caller's anonymity, SpeakOut allows the caller to give information without the fear of retribution.
2. FortifyFL (App)
FortifyFL is a suspicious activity reporting tool that allows you to instantly relay information to appropriate law enforcement agencies and schools’ officials.
Tuesday, October 3 at 8:30 am (Media Center) – School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting. SAC is a school-based group intended to represent the school, the community and those closest to students. I am looking forward to seeing you there!
Tuesday, October 3 at 5:30 pm – Our Hawks will face Johnson Middle School at Hoover. This game will have some of our students’ favorite concessions:
· Kona Ice and Crumbl Cookies - The Hoover Mentoring Program will be selling Crumbl Cookies for $5 each and Kona Ice, to raise funds for more outside seating and their annual field trip.
Thursday, October 5 at 5:30 pm – Our Hawks will face Central Middle School at Central MS. In memory of a Central MS teacher, pet supplies are being collected (October 2 – October 6). If you are going to attend this game, please consider supporting their initiative. I’ve attached a flyer with more information.
