MCES Weekly Top Five For Parents
UPDATES AND REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 16
A MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION
Greetings Montclair Families,
As we continue to navigate our Remote Learning model, the administration team would like to inform you of important details within our school community and inform you of some updates coming from Cumberland County Schools.
First, the deadline for parents and caregivers of students to present the required immunization record and health assessment transmittal form for their child has been extended until December 30. For more information, visit the district's Website.
Next, we would like to update you about the learning model's status that will take place in January. The Cumberland County Board of Education approved the school re-entry plan during a special Board meeting last week. CCS Families will have the option for their child to participate in a combination of in-person and virtual instruction or remain fully virtual for their child. Students participating in the blended learning model will be assigned to one of two cohorts to attend school in person two days per week. Wednesday will be designated as an independent remote-learning day for all students and a telework day for all staff. This change will take place in January 2021.
Contingent upon positive COVID-19 metrics, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) will transition to Plan B (Blended-Remote and In-Person Learning) following a staggered entry approach beginning January 7, 2021, for traditional calendar schools and January 11, 2021, for year-round schools. Pending positive COVID-19 metrics, CCS will transition to Plan A (Traditional Face-to-Face Learning with Minimal Social Distancing) for K-5 students beginning February 1, 2021.
We ask for families to be patient and understanding during this possible transition from Virtual to Blended Learning. Our school community's number one priority is to ensure all students' safety and all stakeholders involved. Paying attention to the health of our children is very crucial during these uncertain times. All parties involved will need to be vigilant.
More information about this transition will be shared with our families as we begin to finalize various logistics. Lastly, please encourage your child to continue to turn in all asynchronous assignments for their core subjects and their resource classes and make sure that they are attending all live sessions with their teacher and their small group instructor.
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact Mrs. Powell or Mr.Gillespie, the school's administration team.
