Basic Information!
I am a 22 year old junior at PSU studying psychology and special education.
I have 4 brothers, 1 older and 3 younger.
I love animals, music, coffee, Jesus, and rain.
I work as a caregiver for children with disabilities.
I enjoy being outside hiking and exploring when the weather is nice. When it's cold or rainy outside I like taking a good book to a coffee shop for a couple hours.
Why this class?
I spent 2 months in Mexico two summers ago serving at an orphanage for children and adults with special needs, and have been back several times since then to visit. My experience there has given me a heart for children with special needs, hence the special education minor. In many of my special education classes, there has been an emphasis on using different computer programs and application to make learning effective for all students. I am hoping this class will give me good resources and skills that I will be able to use in the future.
Future Goals
After I get my bachelors degree, I hope to further my education and get a Masters degree in education.
I would love to teach at a Montessori or Waldorf school.
While I would enjoy working with children with special needs, I also would love to teach in a general classroom of elementary students.
