INTRODUCTION
Martin Luther King Jr. was a great man that stood for the equality of all humans alike. Although he was specifically supportive of African Americans throughout the United States, since his appearances and actions, the entire world has changed. This is the story of a great leader, Martin Luther King Jr.
What made him a leader?
King, was obviously an African American, and he led the civil rights movement in the United States. He also helped to end the legal segregation of African Americans and helped give them the right to vote. Eventually he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. Yet through this all, Martin Luther King strived to attain his freedom peacefully.
How did Martin Luther King Jr. show his leadership?
Martin Luther King proved himself to be a great leader through standing with his people through relentless trials and refused to stop even when there was an attempt on the life of his family! However he also did the little things that would make him able to relate to the situation he was about to put himself into. For example Martin traveled across the world all the way to India, so that he could meet Gandhi and learn how to successfully gain his freedom peacefully, since Gandhi had already been successful. Secondly Martin Luther King led the Montgomery bus boycott in response to the mistreatment of Rosa Parks when she refused to give up her seat to a white person. He was successfully able to peacefully arrange for Rosa Parks to be released. Next, Martin Luther King led the march on Washington and delivered his famous "I have a Dream" speech to an extensive amount of people and was able to talk about his views on equality.

Leadership Traits
Martin Luther King Jr. had many leadership qualities some of which are organization, perseverance and peacefulness. Martin Luther King used his organization to successfully lead the civil rights movement in rapid success and made sure that all of his followers and participants were up to date. Next Martin Luther King used his perseverance to continue to work towards what he believed in even after threats to his family, including a bomb. Finally Martin Luther King Jr. was very peaceful. This was shown through his non-violent boycotts and protests unlike zealots like Malcolm X. He stood calm in the midst of the storm that enveloped around him, and for these reasons and more, Martin Luther King Jr. was a great leader, for his contributions to his people and his society.
