High Expectations: Every Scholar, Every Day
A Word from Principal Haynes
Greetings Parents,
Our Literacy Night this week was a huge HIT!! If you were not there, you MISSED it!! It was "Nacho Average Literacy Night" complete with information presented by our in-house Early Literacy Specialist, Ms. Villaluz from Children's Literacy Initiative, local guest authors, a book "tasting" learning about different types of books while enjoying nachos, not to mention our vendor gallery in the Mall Area and information about how your child can work on iReady. It was a fun-filled, informative night!! We hope that more of you will join us at these events!
This week, on Tuesday, September 24th at 9AM, we have our first School Advisory Council Meeting in the Media Center. Please come out and join us. In an effort to offer flexible meetings for our families, this month's meeting will be in the morning and next month, we will have an evening meeting! This is a great opportunity to learn about our school AND come meet our Parent Teacher Association officers!
This week begins our Start with Hello/Peace Week activities! We had many of our scholars wearing GREEN on Friday and they looked amazing! Our School Counselor, Ms. Prospere has put together a variety of activities to promote peace this week and we look forward to each and every one of them.
This week, our 3rd and 5th graders will be taking math assessments so it is important that they are in school each and every day!! Please make sure that if you have access to a computer and Internet at home, that you have your child get on iReady! This important program will not only help them to work on skills they need to work on, but it will also help to work on grade level skills that they need to be successful this year. We will be recognizing student performance on iReady later this month.
On Friday, our students will take their yearbook and ID pictures. They MUST wear their school uniform! As always, thank you for your support!
Wishing you an AMAZING and BLESSED week!!
Principal Haynes

Headphones
Parents, a NUMBER ONE supply that scholars need are headphones (not ear buds). There a few stores you can find inexpensive ($5-10) headphones: Big Lots and Five Below. The students must work on iReady in the classrooms and they need headphones for that. Please make it a priority to get these. Thank you!!
