Adopt A Senior Pet Month
Why this Month Should be Recognized Nationally
Adopt A Senior Pet Month- What Is It?
November is Adopt A Senior Pet Month. Adopting a Senior Pet Month is a month where you are encouraged to adopt an older pet- such as a dog instead of a puppy. In the next few paragraphs you will learn what this holiday is about and why it should be recognized nationally. You will also be provided for a link to Richmond Animal League, an animal shelter. If you are compelled to adopt an older dog or cat, this is a great place to do so. The dog pictured to the left of this picture is Charlie, he is a beagle mix and is 7 years and 10 months old. He is currently up for adoption at the RAL shelter.
Why National Adopt a Senior Pet Month Should Be Recognized Nationally
Adopt a Senior Pet Month is a very important occasion. Sadly, there are many dogs and cats in shelters. As these animals grow older, their likelihood of being adopted decreases dramatically. Can you imagine living your entire life without someone to love or someone loving you? It's a horrible thought that these animals are forced to feel every day. Also, almost every puppy is located in foster care at the RAL Shelter. However, many of the dogs and cats are at the actual shelter instead of a home. We need to get those dogs into homes where they will be loved and cared for properly! Older dogs are very sweet and have a lot of personality. Some sources say that older dogs might even be easier to train than puppies. Adopt a Senior Pet Month affects many people, especially those who work in foster care and volunteer at the shelters. They will have to spend less time caring for the animals there and if more animals were adopted, they could spend more time recruiting more animals in need. I currently have a fourteen year old dog who is amazing and insanely smart. He is also spoiled rotten, along with his brother who is just as sweet and six years old. Please help get the word out or help this worthy cause in some other way, such as adoption. The cat shown here is Francis and she is 11 years and 5 months old. She is located at the RAL shelter. Please help her!
