May 2022- as IB learners we are Open- Minded!
Open- Minded
They understand and appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, and are open to the perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals and communities. They are accustomed to seeking and evaluating a range of points of view, and are willing to grow from the experience.
What does being Open-Minded mean?
As teens, you are still developing your personality, moral character and beliefs. It is the perfect time to explore other view points and experience the benefits of having an open-mind. Sometimes, we "think" we have open-minds, only to realize our own upbringing, influences and experiences are holding us back.
Today’s Tip: Practice fighting the urge to react in anger when you hear differing opinions, avoid closing yourself off to new ideas, place yourself out of your comfort zone, don't be afraid to ask questions- everyone else is wondering too, stay social and make new friends.
Through the buttons below, discover some tips for educating and expanding your practice of being an open-minded teen. Don't forget to follow the link to this week's google form where we engage about the idea of having an open-mind and set a goal for this upcoming week.
