For the 2021-2022 school year, students enrolled in Wylie ISD will be eligible to receive a free healthy meal every day at school. Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals; however, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued extended waivers that allows schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year.

While no application or eligibility determination process is required for your student to receive free meals this school year, the income eligibility requirement will likely resume in the 2022-2023 school year.

Due to the Nation’s labor and supply shortages, menu changes may occur often. We will do our best to provide notice of menu changes as we receive notice from our vendors.

Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Assessments

Our students have been taking the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments the last couple of weeks. We will continue to administer the MAP assessments to students who may have been absent during the testing time. Students are assessed in the areas below:

5th grade - math, reading and science

6th grade - math and reading

Children learn better and faster when teachers have a clear picture of what each student knows and is ready to learn next. MAP Growth is a computer adaptive test. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. This type of assessment challenges top performers without overwhelming students whose skills are below grade level. Results will be sent home to all families in the next few weeks.

Patriot Plus Begins...

Patriot Plus will begin on Tuesday, September 7, 2021! This is an embedded time within the school day where students are participating in extension and intervention activities based on their individual needs. These activity groups are fluid and based on student need throughout the school year to engage students at high levels. Our campus team of teachers designs and facilitates this learning each day. We look forward to showcasing Patriot Plus student learning very soon!
