Captain's Log
PASS CHRISTIAN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
AHOY, PIRATES!
Happy New Year! It brought great joy to see the students' interacting with you Friday. The visited schools were alive with chatter, hugs, and smiles. Faculstaff commented on how much they missed the children. Thank you for making school a place children want to be. We, the administration, commit to doing the same for you.
Among all of the bustle of restarting, I was reminded that the tree is in the seed. I encourage you to face this new year and the final semester with a renewed sense of excitement for all that is to come. Continue to partner with one another to ensure our students have the high-quality instruction they deserve. Thank you for all that you have done and are about to do on behalf of our students. I encourage you to do it in true Pirate Style by allowing your commitment to eXcellence to shape your actions.
With that, I submit the Captain’s Log! #committedtoeXcellence #eXcellencemarksthespot #finishstrong cje
Instructional Strategy Spotlight
ANNOUNCEMENTS
WELCOME ABOARD! Classroom teachers have all experienced that first day in the classroom. Do you remember how excited you were? The lives you wanted to change? The great lessons you wanted to teach? Yet, there was also a little bit of fearfulness about being responsible for 20-25 little people. How awesome to have all of those emotions happening at once! However, it can all be overwhelming.
Please help CSO welcome our newest Pirate Teachers. Approximately 15% of our faculstaff is comprised of teachers who have less than three years of experience. Our interview teams, led by our administrative team have worked diligently to find the best and brightest of the new teachers. Please ensure they know what a Pirate Teacher is and does. Help them keep their excitement for teaching by guiding them in doing those things that are best practices while encouraging them to try their ideas. All have been encouraged to seek out peers who will build and strengthen them - to find the marigolds. <---Click the word to read the story.
LETTERS OF INTENT: It is time to begin planning for the new school year. To properly plan we must have an accurate count of those intending to return, resign, or retire for the 19-20 school year. Those intending to resign or retire should submit a letter of resignation/retirement to your principal or supervisor.
The business office, in collaboration with the personnel office, will send out Letters of Intent via Google Forms Monday, January 7, 2019. Responses will be due on or before Friday, January 18, 2019.
BUDGET SEASON: Principals, to give teachers a voice in our planning process, please build your budget with your school's leadership team. Mrs. Bromen will explain our process at our upcoming meeting. We will ask that you keep sign-in sheets and minutes/agendas for the planning meetings. The Teacher Leadership Council (TLC) has requested that we research hiring site-level custodians and contract out the floor work. Other large-scale budgetary recommendations may be sent via your school's TLC representative(s).
MED-ANALYSIS CALENDAR: Please be reminded that Med-Analysis is a district Pirate Perk that extends to your immediate family to aid in your family's wellness. Please see this month's calendars to see the extra's they are offering. For our new teachers: If you become ill or need routine medical attention, you may use the centers to schedule appointments.

Dr. Evers also spent time in the recovery room with Julia and Ms. Morgan after surgery. In a touching moment, Julia picked up Dr. Evers’ hand and rubbed it with a smile of thanks. We cannot thank you all enough for what has been done and is being done. Julia is a Pirate! She is strong and refusing to surrender. #juliastrong
Congratulations to the PCHS Cheer Squad!
