Class News 5 - 6 - 2016
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all our Moms!! I hope you know you are appreciated by not just us, but also your children!
Due to lack of time, we will postpone our spelling test from this week to have our spelling test from this week, on Friday, May 13th. Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.
We had gorgeous weather for the track and field day on Friday! The kids ran their hearts out and should sleep pretty good tonight. :) A fun time was had by all and a few are red despite multiple applications of sunscreen! We are especially excited because a 4th and 5th grader at Amana got nominated for the sportsmanship award. Great work Gabe!! Thank you to all the volunteers and cheerleaders that came out to support AES! Also a huge thanks to Mrs. Neubauer and the PE department for a job well done! This event was rockin'!
Believe it or not the end of the year testing has begun. We will continue to check to see how students have progressed from the start of the year until now.

BAND
MAY CONCERT UPDATE
Dear 5th Grade Band Families,
Seems like we are coming to the home stretch of the school year and there is still plenty of musical ground to cover and information to get out. Hopefully this note will fill in some of those “info spots”.
All CCA 5th graders will participate in the annual “step-up” day on Thursday, May 12 at the M.S. This is a chance for students to visit their 6th grade classrooms and teachers, find out where everything is and get to meet fellow students from the other 5th grade classes. The 5th Band also gets a chance to have a short rehearsal in the M.S. Band Room and run through our concert tunes all together. So, all 5th band members need to bring instruments that day whether it is their regular Band day or not. It should be fun to see what it all sounds like with all hands on deck!
Our final concert of the year will be held on Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Middle School Auditorium. The M.S. Bands also perform that night but after we have finished and cleared out so once we are done, 5th families are free to go. The staggered start (5th band at 6:30 and M.S. at 7:15) will free up parking and seating for both groups so it should be a fun night.
This has been a fun and challenging year with the opening on Tiffin Elementary and all the scheduling “fun” that goes with that but teachers and students have been really helpful in getting everything rolling in the right direction. Keep your young musician practicing and playing as much as you can, the next month is still important even with all the ball games, track meets and dance recitals. Thanks for letting me work with your students this year- my “fun meter” is usually pretty high!
