Class Information and Reminders

Math- Today homework 6 is due. We are working on our Exponents introduction – parts of a power (base, exponents, and power) and exponent operation exploration (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing exponents).



Science- Today students will be watching a national geographic video and answering comprehension questions about continental drift and the theory of plate tectonics.


Social Studies- Today we studying taxation and the colonies.


English Language Arts -Today students are taking their theme quiz and finishing their practice activity in their interactive notebooks in which they are identifying dramatic irony and determining whether or not the dramatic irony creates suspense or humor. On Monday we will begin working on examining how dialogue and events move a plot forward.

Students can pick up a form from any teacher or the office.


i-Ready


Students may complete i-Ready lessons at home at any time for Math and ELA (see instructions at the bottom of this newsletter). These lessons ARE for a grade. For ELA, students MUST click on "Extra Lessons" (only those lessons will be graded).

I-Ready The I-Ready program provides students with lessons and assessments to strengthen their knowledge Math and ELA concepts. The Math and ELA teachers use this program in class frequently, and will use the students' scores on the assessments that follow the lessons in their grade books. We strongly encourage students working on lessons at home if possible. The student username is the student's ID #@nkcschools.org (123456@nkcschools.org, for example) and the password is the student's birthdate (MMDDYYYY).

Scholastic Scholastic Reading Clubs allow parents and students to order book and other items at an affordable price. If you use Mrs. Goodwin's classroom code, N8ZDY , when you check out, you earn free books for the ELA classroom! Want to write a check? That's fine! Simply write the check to Scholastic and turn it into Mrs. Goodwin. Monthly paper catalogues are available in Mrs. Goodwin's room as well.
