Updates from Sowing Seeds of Hope
School Supplies Needed!
In partnership with Sowing Seeds of Hope, we are collecting backpacks and school supplies to be distributed in Perry County the first week of August. You can participate in a couple of ways:
- Send a donation to Alabama CBF marked "school supplies" and 100% of your gift will go to purchasing the supplies needed.
- Invite your church members, Sunday school classmates, friends and neighbors to donate a backpack filled with the school supplies needed.
The Alabama CBF staff and volunteers will transport all of your donations to the SSOH office for distribution. We have set up two collection "hubs," one in the Birmingham area and one in the Huntsville area. Once your church has completed their supply collection, please deliver them to area hub on or before the morning of Thursday, August 2.

Pivot: Cuba
Save the Date for....Pivot: Cuba
March 7-11, 2019
In 2019, Alabama CBF will be partnering with CBF Florida, CBF Virginia and CBF Latino Ministries, alongside our local hosts, FIBAC, for Pivot Cuba. This mission development event challenges thoughts and beliefs about God’s mission in the world and our role in that mission.
More trip details will be published soon, but if you have any questions and are interested in learning more now, please email Lucas Dorion (lucas@alabamacbf.org).
In an effort to encourage some of our Young Baptist friends, under 35 to participate, Alabama CBF will be offering financial assistance. You can contact Lucas Dorion for information about this as well.

Opportunities Through CBF Global
Peer Learning Groups
Peer Learning Groups (PLGs) provide an opportunity for ministers to form together, shaping one another through opportunities of worship, spiritual formation, discussion of ministry-related issues and fellowship. Currently, there are over 100 PLGs of 5-12 members. New groups are being formed and additional members are welcome.
Each group, facilitated by a convener, works collaboratively to determine the focus of their meetings and/or retreats. The Fellowship provides the groups with suggested resources related to promoting pastoral excellence and congregational health.
