What's Happening Around Trice
Solar Eclipse of 2017
Ms. Frost has shared with me the forecast for Monday. We will stay on schedule and take each grade level out during their recess time to view the eclipse except for 3rd grade. Because the eclipse starts at 11:45 we will take 3rd grade out after 4th grade at 1:10. When students finish eating lunch we will have them sit on the floor in front of the stage. We will have the big screen pulled down and we will have the live stream from NASA and Ms. Osburn playing. Students that do not have permission to go out will remain in the cafeteria with a teacher and watch on the screen until their class comes in. I need cafeteria duty teachers to have a radio so that we can communicate when classes are going in. Parents who want to come on campus and watch the eclipse with their student will be asked to sit on the side stage and wait until we get lined up outside. Then they will be allowed to stand behind their student to view the eclipse. We do not have extra glasses to give to parents who come to watch the eclipse.
Students may get checked out to go home and view the eclipse with their parents and it will not count against perfect attendance. Student do not have to return to school. Please allow any students leaving early to take their glasses with them. However, we do not have any extra glasses to give to parents or siblings.
We will be letting students keep their glasses as a keepsake of the event. We will be sending home a letter cautioning parents to not let their student wear the glasses to view the sun or any future eclipse with them. As Mr. Dowdy warned, if the glasses are damaged in any way they are not longer safe to wear.
Shout out!
Thank you all for a great first week of school. From the first day selfie stations to the solar eclipse practice and assemblies, you all have done an amazing job. Many of you stayed late this first week to ensure all our students made it home. Thank you Ms. Maggie, Ms. Becky, Ms. Cox, Ms. Walker, Ms. Tucker, Ms. Wiederspan, Ms. Mears, Ms. Coker and Mr. McDonald for staying late some days until 6:30.

Will Sub
If you are going to be out you must contact WillSub even if a sub is not required. Any reason other than personal illness requires approval from the principal before a sub will be booked. If you are planning to use a personal day then you must put in the request at least 24 hours in advance. Please make requests as early as possible in order to get the sub you want. To enter a sub request on line go to: www.willsub.com or phone 1-877-945-5782. You are always responsible for requesting your own sub or turning in your absence. If you are planning to be out for half a day, then the time is 7:45-11:45 for the morning and 11:45-3:45 for the afternoon. Please also notify me and Ms. Becky by email, text or phone if you are going to be absent.
