First Nine Weeks Updates
Administrator's Corner
Tiffanie R. Russell, Principal
It is hard to believe we have completed the first nine weeks of school. We are excited to again be on campus with our students each day. While we have had a few curve balls throughout the past two years due to COVID, I feel confident we are well on our way to seeing many wonderful things at Bell Academy. I am extremely proud of the students, faculty, and staff for their continued dedication, determination, and growth. The commitment from our faculty and staff to ensure rigorous instruction is taking place, while also juggling our COVID procedures is beyond compare. We are also extremely thankful for continued partnerships with our families. Your continued support does not go unnoticed. Thank you for entrusting us each day with your children. They are the reason we love what we do. As always, our door is always open. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us by email or by calling the office.
Educationally yours,
Mrs. Russell

Arrival & Dismissal
Morning Drop Off:
- Teachers are on duty at 7:20 a.m. to receive students. Students should not be dropped off prior to this time.
- Students who are car riders should be dropped off in the carpool lane on the east side of the school . Students should not exit the car until a staff member directs them to do so. Students should be prepared to exit the car with their mask on and their backpack in hand.
- Students should not be dropped off in the front of the school prior to 7:55 a.m. This includes, but is not limited to the bus lane, the parking lot, the edge of the road, or a residence nearby.
- When it is raining please watch for the teachers to direct cars under the awning in the carpool area. We are able to unload three cars under the awning at a time. Please have your students ready to exit the car in order to expedite this process.
- Parents should not exit the car for any reason during morning drop off in the carpool lane.
- Students who are tardy, must be signed in by a parent in the front office. Students are considered tardy after 7:55. Per CSD policy, once a student accumulates three tardies they will be issued a detention. Detention is held each Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Afternoon Pick Up:
- Any parent wishing to make a change in afternoon pick up should contact the office or your child’s teacher no later than 1:45 p.m. daily.
- Any student who requires an early dismissal should be picked up no later than 1:45 p.m. Early check outs will not be allowed after 1:45 p.m.
- Dismissal for pre-kindergarten will begin promptly at 2:20. Parents of pre-kindergarten children should pick up in the lane in front of the school. The teachers on duty will walk your child out of the school to their designated car. Your car tag should be hung from your rear view mirror.
- Dismissal for kindergarten through sixth grade will begin promptly at 2:45. Teachers on duty will call the numbers from your Bell Academy carpool tag, which should be placed visibly from your rearview mirror. Once your car is loaded, please remove the number from your mirror. This will allow us to know which numbers need to be called again.
- Once numbers are called, the children will stand behind the fence on the brick wall. Once all traffic is stopped, the children will be allowed to walk to their cars with teacher observation.
- Students should be picked up from school no later than 3:00 daily.
Thank you in advance for helping to ensure the safety of each individual while on campus. Safety remains our number one priority.
Accelerated Reader
Accelerate Reader Achievements
Accelerated Reader is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. Throughout each nine weeks, the students choose books on their independent reading level and complete a quiz to measure comprehension. Each month, the students in each classroom with the highest comprehension and most words read are invited to a special celebration with the principal in the lunch courtyard. As an added component, an AR competition is held among the schools each nine weeks. Katherine Kruger each joined the ranks as a Bell Academy millionaire after reading 1,162,734 words! Students who read the most words for the month of August, as well as students who achieved their AR goal during the month of August were invited to a popsicle party with Principal Russell. We are so very proud of our students' achievement and dedication to increasing their reading abilities!
