Eagles' Nest
Family edition - Summer 2018
Principal's Message
Whether you are currently a member of the WMS family or new to us this year.... Welcome!
I hope this newsletter finds you well and you are able to enjoy the summer months with family and friends.
For those that may not know, I am Dr. Justin Reynolds, Principal at Washington Middle School. I am getting ready to start my second year at Washington. For administrators, the summer allows time to reflect on the past year and plan for the upcoming year. I have been fortunate enough to attend some conferences with staff members and am really excited to gear up for the new school year!
As we move forward, I want to reiterate my desire to establish strong relationships with families and work together to support your children. I truly believe it takes a village to raise a child. The best way to do this is to keep lines of communication open. I will continue to keep you aware of what is happening through this monthly publication, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and our website. Feel free to like, comment, and tag others! Our goal is to make communication a two-way, interactive experience. Also, please know you can contact me or assistant principal Mrs. Roberts directly if you have any questions as well (reynoldsj@msdr9.org or robertskelly@msdr9.org).
We will send out another Eagles' Nest prior to the start of school, and the beginning of each month thereafter, so keep a lookout! Until then, enjoy the summer weather!

What's Happening This Summer?
Ms. Georgie and the custodial crew have been doing an amazing job getting rooms ready! Many of the halls and classes are already done and they are moving classroom furniture back into their rooms.
Just a reminder that secretaries are on summer vacation until July 23. If you have a question that needs to be answered before then, please feel free to contact me at reynoldsj@msdr9.org or by phone at 314-467-7601.

Eiffel Tower STEM Challenge!
Although this website is an example of younger children doing this, you can personalize the activity to fit any geographic location. Going to Washignton D.C.? Have them make the Washington Monument. Headed to Seattle? Create the Space needle! Or, are you a staycation family? Create some well-known monuments from around town, like the Arch!
