February 2019

Messages from Principal Menard

February is here!

We just finished ACCESS testing and we are very proud of all of the hard work from our students. I also want to thank all of our ELD teachers for their hard work in preparing their students to be successful. As a school, we continue to watch our students grow in the right direction.

With that said, we also know that attendance plays a key role in student success. Absenteeism affects student performance and reduces a student's opportunity for success both academically and in the workforce. Please help us to be sure that your students get the most benefit from school. Attendance matters!

I want to thank all of our families who attended our January 31st Family Literacy Night. We had a fabulous turnout. It was really great to see so many families that were able to attend and get the chance to engage in some reading activities with your child(ren)! Our next family event will be our Family Math night in April.

As we move into the second part of our year, I want to take a moment to recognize our students. School can be hard for students. It can be a tough job to come to school everyday and give 100% . Our students not only do that, but they do it with much success. I think it is very important that, as an Alsup community, we celebrate our students and tell them we are proud of them. It is not always easy being a kid, but our students do it well and with great class and dignity. I appreciate all of their effort. As parents, you should be very proud of the effort your students give to make Alsup successful, I know we as a staff are proud!
