Student Schedules
We can only accommodate schedule changes where there is an error such as a repeated exploratory. We will not be able to change a student's team or teachers due to preference or desire to be with a friend.
For students disappointed that they are not placed on a team with a friend, please trust that new friendships will be made and added to old ones. At this time all students enjoy brunch and lunch breaks together.
Schedule for the Week of August 9th
School starts at 8:45. Please be sure students are on campus in time to be in class ready to learn before the bell at 8:45.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays will follow this schedule:
Wednesdays are Early Release Days
Reopening Protocols and Mask Wearing
All students and staff, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask while indoors. Students and staff are not required to wear masks while participating in PE outdoors, passing periods, or during brunch and lunch. When PE is held indoors, students and staff are required to wear masks. Social distancing will be strongly encouraged where possible.
Please see detailed information regarding requirements at the link below.
Reopening Protocols for K-12 Schools: Appendix T1
Hand sanitizing stations are located throughout campus and in classrooms.
Crisis Go
It is important that your child wear their ID to school each day. It will allow us to process students through the gate much more efficiently. We will need to certify students who do not have their Crisis Go complete and look up those whom do not have their ID cards. This will slow the entrance to school down.
We appreciate your support in making this part of your daily routine.
Please Pull All the Way Forward before Unloading and Loading Passengers
Citizenship and Work Habits Marks
Work Habits includes effort, homework completion, etc
Citizenship includes behavior, tardies, honesty (i.e cheating or plagiarism), etc.
The “soft skills” employers need are represented here. A student with an "A" may still need to develop these skills. A student with a "C" may exemplify these skills. These marks provide that feedback.

Mr. Atkins (Far left)
I have been a counselor for 14 years. I started my career at West Ranch High School. From there I have worked at several different schools in our district; Valencia HS, Hart-at-Home/Learning Post, Sequoia. This is my fifth year at La Mesa.
I got into counseling as a way to support students one-on-one. I have worked with young people since I was 14 years old. It is truly a passion of mine. I am available to help each student in many differents ways such as: academic, career and personal social. Anything you need, please do not hesitate to contact me!!

Mrs. Mancini (Second from right)
Hi, I am Mrs. Mancini, counselor for Team Griffins (7th grade) and Team Wildcats (8th grade). This is my fourth year as a counselor at La Mesa. I am looking forward to getting to know my students and helping them get the most out of their junior high experience!
I became a counselor because I love helping students dream big dreams and meet their goals. I first discovered I loved working with students when I volunteered as a camp counselor for USC's Troy Camp!
I received my Bachelor's degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism from USC and my Master's degree in Counseling from California State University, Northridge.

Mr. Paterson (Far right)
My name is Steve Paterson, I have been counseling for 16 years at only La Mesa. In fact, while with the Hart district, I have only been at la Mesa. I was a teacher here before that. La Mesa is like my second family! I grew up in Texas and New Mexico. I went to University of Utah for my under-grad degree. I moved to California in 1988. I worked at a non-public school for 9 years as a counselor for emotionally disturbed adolescents. I cherish my family and look forward to each day I am alive.
