Transportation Update: A Message from Derek Owens
We won't be returning buses to schools when a child gets left at the school. Once the school official gives the buses the "thumbs up" that they can leave, they will not turn the bus around to get a student that has missed the bus. If the student has absolutely no way to get home, we will try to send a bus back at the end of the mid/high routes, usually between 4:30-5:00. Let me know if any questions! Thank You!
Pinning Ceremonies: PLEASE SEND HOME INVITATIONS EARLY THIS WEEK! (Possibly at parent conferences. Invitations are under the mailboxes in the front office)
We will have our very first, quarterly pinning ceremonies on October 29. This is a time to celebrate the academic and social/behavioral achievements of our students. Since this is our first ceremony, I want to make sure you have as much information as possible and have plenty of time to ask any questions or voice any concerns you have. Kindergarten will not participate in a ceremony and I am open to alternate ideas to recognize their achievements. Parents are invited to attend. I will put invitations (see below for sample) near the mailboxes in the front office. Once you have determined who will receive awards in your class please send these home to those students, only. We will recognize the following achievements (see below for the awards sheet). Also, the schedule is below. We will be in the cafeteria. I have requested bagged lunches for students this day.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION THIS WEEK: The front office will provide absence information. We are struggling to determine tardies, but we will continue to work on this.
The day of the ceremony grade levels will be called to the cafeteria. An administrator will make a brief introduction. Teachers will call out each award and the student(s) that receive this award. An administrator will be at the front giving out pins and lanyards. Lanyards should stay at school until the end of the year when students can take them home. Students may wear their lanyards while at school, however, we will not replace lost or broken pins. At the end of the ceremony an administrator will say a few final thoughts to close out the ceremony.
Schedule:
- 8:00 2nd Grade
- 9:15 3rd Grade
- 10:30 4th Grade

Three areas of help:
• classroom supplies
• hands-on classroom assistance

Although we may not be able to reach all needs each week, we will work to spread the love and bring on more volunteers if the need arises.
