Mr. Buniewicz's 5th and 6th Grade Newsletter
If you prefer to receive only a digital copy and don't need a paper copy, please let me know via text, email, planner, etc. and I can try to save some trees.
Global Read Aloud
Wonders Online Portal
The portal will take some time to get used to, as it is difficult to tell the Literature Anthology book from the Reading/Writing Workshop book. Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is any trouble or questions with the website.
5th Grade - A Review of a Week of Learning!
Language Arts - This week's lessons focused on ever-changing technology. We discussed the good and bad sides of improving tech. We also learned how to use the online portal. We read our reading group books online as well as completed the worksheet online.
Again, we focused on citing evidence from the text in our writing. There is an assignment going home in the Friday folders for you to see.
Heads up: This next week for Wonders is a review week. It will NOT be a typical week. There will be no new books or spelling lists, but students will get a chance to revisit material that needs revisiting.
Social Studies - We spent the beginning of the week reading about a make-believe country called Egbonia. Based on the reading, we tried to figure out what kind of government they had. Many students either don't have this assignment turned in or had it done poorly. We then moved on to looking at the constitution and learning about how the government carries out its business.
Reminder: students can come in before or after school to redo their preamble quiz if necessary!
6th Grade - A Review of a Week of Learning!
Language Arts - This week's lessons focused on money! We discussed inflation and exchange rates a whole lot of other related to it.
We worked on reading our Wonders series online and working through the portal. Students can now access this at home. Also, we started working on personal narratives. We are experimenting by using the online portal to help us organize our writing!
Heads up: This next week for Wonders is a review week. It will NOT be a typical week. There will be no new books or spelling lists, but students will get a chance to revisit material that needs revisiting.
Social Studies - We picked up where we left off on our project about improving Mackinac Island. We are preparing presentations about why the island needs what we are proposing. In these presentations, we are including many of the items we are including in social studies class.
