Weekly Message!
Teacher Appreciation Week Messages!!
Week of May 10th
WMES Parents/Guardians,
Happy Friday!! We had another fantastic week of school. I would like to wish all of our WMES moms a Happy Mother's Day! We had a wonderful week spoiling our staff for Teacher Appreciation Week. A huge thank you to our PTO, Grandparent's Club, and families who donated treats, or food to make this week a huge success. We love our teachers!! A huge thank you to Jackie Schwencher, Valerie Fries, Carla Beavers, Lisa Short, and Molly Routzahn for making this week so awesome!
Our school just wrapped up the Pennies for Patients Fundraiser, which supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and I am proud to announce that we met and exceeded our goal this year. White Marsh raised $1,073.55 in two weeks. It was an amazing effort by our students. Thank you to all our students who participated.
Also, just a reminder that we are still selling yearbooks and they are selling very quickly. A flyer came home last week in case you want to order one. Also, all fifth grade students will receive one free due to a generous donor.
WMES will be holding auditions for our annual WMES students who have "SUPER Talents". The talent show will be shared virtually on June 9, 2021. We would love for your child to participate in our show! If your child is in 3rd -5th grade and has a "Super Talent" to share, please fill out and send in the form attached.

We are planning our end of the year Fifth Grade events. On June 14th we will be holding a special lunch, awards ceremony, and our annual "Clap Out" event. This event will be an in-school event only and for students only this year due to COVID-19 and the safety of our staff and students. More information will be coming from the fifth grade team.
The last day of school for TCPS students is scheduled for Thursday, June 17th, which is also an early dismissal day. I have included a link to the 2021-2022 school year calendar for your reference as well.
WMES Summer Learning
We have begun planning for our WMES Summer Learning 2021 program. We have identified priority students for this program and have sent out information about our program to those parents. If you received this information, please make sure your online registration is completed by Friday, May 7th! Depending on how many of our priority students sign-up, staffing for each designated week, and classroom space, we will then be able to determine if we can open up our WMES Summer Learning 2021 program to additional students. Thank you for your understanding!
For those who are interested, the Out of Area Request form will only be available from April 1-June 1. The County will not accept late applications. All students must reapply each year and placement is not guaranteed. The online form can be found on the TCPS website or by following this link:

See-through or mesh shirts, tops, dresses, slacks, or shorts, are not to be worn unless they are worn over other appropriate clothing. Pants or shorts that contain holes or slits above the mid-thigh are not permitted.

PBIS Parent Corner
White Marsh Elementary implements school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to improve social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes for all of our students. We are recognizing students who are RESPONSIBLE, RESPECTFUL, and SAFE through Positive Office Referrals.
To date, 1294 Positive Office Referrals have been awarded to our Dolphins! The students love to hear their name announced on WMES Live after receiving their Positive Office Referrals! Keep up the great work!!!
Teach, Remind, and Reward Expected Behaviors with Positive Feedback
Just like how White Marsh Elementary uses PBIS, doing so at home is much more powerful with a plan to teach, remind, and reward behaviors using positive feedback. Emphasizing respect, responsibility, and a sense of community is important for maintaining a smooth home-school connection.
For example, consider having conversations with your child that match conversations they might have at school on respecting other individuals. If your child’s comment reflects a lack of understanding or bias, calmly discuss factual information (e.g., “Anyone can get sick.” “We are a community that takes care of each other.”).
