Dear Parents and Guardians,


This is a Special Edition Newsletter to let you know of important timely information. Please see the information below about our Running Club and upcoming Turkey Trot.


We also need to make changes to our Books on the Go and Book Bus. Our Books on the Go time changed and our Book Bus is changing to Wednesday.

Scholls Heights Running Club in Partnership with Marathon Kids

Scholls Height Running Club in Partnership with Marathon Kids 2020/2021

Beaverton School District

Beaverton School District is excited to announce its partnership with Marathon Kids; a running club that will be available to your student! Scholls Heights has a Running Club which will partner with Marathon Kids this year.


What is Marathon Kids?

  • An all inclusive running club

  • Students track miles run to earn Marathons

  • Rewards are available for students when they hit different mile markers


Scholls Heights Running Club and Marathon Kids both have the mission to get kids moving at the pace they choose. They can walk, run, or jog until they have earned the goals they have set for themselves.


Why Running Club for Kids?

We all know how much exercise and movement is important for not only our physical health but also our mental health. Research shows that incorporating consistent running/walking routines into students' lives, helps them both physically and mentally. No matter the students' ability, they can run/walk/jog at their own pace and set their own mileage goals. This is the perfect activity for students and families to do safely and socially distanced from others, in the time frame that fits each family's schedule.


How will this work during CDL?

Students will run/walk/jog and track their own miles at home with their families. Parents will then submit the miles completed on the Marathon Kids website. Miles will then be approved by the student’s PE teacher.

In order to have access, parents will receive an email to join the schools Marathon Kids Club. Be sure to click on the link in the email to get connected!


When does it start?

As soon as you receive your email and you are logged in, you can start running and tracking your students miles!


Please help us out by reporting the miles once a week! (Ex. every Friday we post the miles ran for the previous week)

UPDATE Books on the Go and Book Bus


“Books on the Go” is now happening every Wednesday morning, under the covered area from 10:30-12:00. This is a grab and go event, as a bundle of books will already be preselected. We appreciate the willingness of students to try new authors and titles, hopefully new books will be found that are enjoyable! Books can be returned to the Book Bus, Wednesdays at Books on the Go between 10:30-12:00, or Tuesday through Thursday between 8:30-2:30 in a book bin in front of the school.


The Book Bus makes four stops within Scholls Heights boundaries every Wednesday afternoon. The four stops are:

1) SW Sabrina Ave @ SW Apple Grove Tr (Sabrina facing south front of the park) @ 1:34 P.M.

2) SW River Terrace Blvd @ Emilia Park @ 2:07 P.M.

3) SW Roshak Rd North of SW Snapdragon Ln @ 2:34 P.M.

4) SW Fern St between SW Catalina Dr and 148th @ 3:10 P.M.


Use the following links to watch how to use Sora, how to look for books in Destiny and how to place books on hold. Once you watch this video, you may start placing books on hold. Please remember that books can be checked out for 2 weeks and will then need to be quarantined for another week, so if you are not the first person in the queue waiting for a book, it will be at least 3 weeks, if not longer, until your book is ready for you. Books on hold can be picked up Wednesdays from 10:30-12:00 or on the Book Bus.
