COUNSELOR CONNECTION

FALL 2012

It's That Time of Year.....College Application Season!

Seniors...do you have college application deadlines coming up? If you do, you MUST request your transcript be sent through NAVIANCE at least 2 weeks in advance! The Counseling Office sends your transcripts out based on your deadlines. We are currently working on Early Decision and Early Action deadlines from now until January 1st. If you request a transcript now but your deadline isn't imminent we will get it out on time--we promise--but we have to work on students with earlier deadlines first.

What About Those Letters?

Check to make sure your letters of recommendation have been submitted if you have a deadline coming up! Simply log onto NAVIANCE and check under "Colleges I'm Applying To". Remember--if you haven't sent a request to your teacher through NAVIANCE, that teacher will not be able to upload your letter and we will not be able to send it out.

SAT NEWS

For those of you taking the SAT on Saturday, November 3rd, please arrive by 7:45 a.m. at your testing site. Remember to bring a photo ID, your test ticket, #2 pencils and calculator! There is still time to sign up for the December 1st SAT! Registration is open until November 1st. Just go to www.collegeboard.org to register. SATs are offered at BHS in May, June, October and November.

WHEN SHOULD JUNIORS TAKE THE SAT OR ACT?

You can take either test any time of year, but we recommend that you take them in the late winter or spring of your junior year. That way you have almost an entire year of classes completed (which should mean more background in English and Math). Many students then take the test for a second time in the fall of their senior year. Come on in and talk with your school counselor if you have specific questions about this.

WHAT'S COMING UP?

It Was Great To See Our Freshmen!

Freshman came down to the Counseling Office to meet in small groups with their counselors. It was so great to put names with faces! We hope you will stop in more frequently now that we've had a chance to chat. Why not poke your head in during our Thursday "Open Office" time during lunch block?
