Unveiling The Truth
"In the past, it was drug trafficking. Today, there is more recognition of the people who are trying to do good and change the reality of the place where they live."
Fighting The Stereotypes
At the age of 11, Rene Silva set up his first, and very own newspaper. He then began to use social media in his fight against the stereotypes going against his Favela community. At 17, Rene live tweeted a police/military raid where they tried to "pacify" the Alemao favela where he lived. Despite the favelas' bad reputation, Rene has used social media to show a different, non-violent side of the favela he lives in.
