Battle of Route 7
I loved seeing our Dominion students supporting in the crowd and especially coaching our kids. This group of seniors was so dedicated. They never won as players, but they were undefeated in high school as coaches. I will also make a note that with more serious refs, it was difficult to do substitutions. I know not all students were able to play. I also know our coaches went above and beyond trying to value the dedication of all of the members of the teams.
November 3rd and 5th Calendar Changes
Thursday, October 28 - Regular School Day- End of Quarter 1
Friday, October 29 - STUDENT HOLIDAY (County-wide Staff Development)
Monday, November 1 - STUDENT HOLIDAY (Planning/Records/Conference Days)
Tuesday, November 2 - STUDENT/STAFF HOLIDAY
UPDATE: Wednesday, November 3 - Teacher Planning Day / Student Asynchronous Learning Day
Thursday, November 4 - STUDENT/STAFF HOLIDAY
UPDATE: Friday, November 5 - Teacher Planning Day / Student Asynchronous Learning Day
This will look very similar to asynchronous days last year. Teachers will communicate the work ahead of time and everything will be posted as early as possible, with the absolute latest being 8:00 AM on the mornings of November 3rd and 5th. Assignments should take approximately 45 minutes per class. We will not have summative work these days. Our building will be open for lunch pick-up, but many of us will be working from home as we will focus on deep cleaning these days.
COVID Updates
We had our 4th and 5th positive cases in the building this week. There was no traceable connection between any of these cases and we feel confident that our processes are working.
You can continue to help by checking on the health of your kids prior to attending each day and signing up to support us at lunch. Lunch Volunteer Sign-Up.
Library
Seneca is excited to announce that we will be participating in a grade level read this year. Starting in November, all students and teachers will be reading one of three books during STORM, depending on their grade level (see table below). Not only will this group read aloud continue to build our school community by sharing an experience, but it will also strengthen our students’ literacy skills by improving their reading, listening, and thinking skills through questioning and various prompts.

Share the Joy of Thanksgiving with a Neighbor!
What does Thanksgiving look like for you? Visiting with loved ones? Watching parades and football? Enjoying the sights, smells, and flavors of some favorite foods? Help create these memories for one or more school families who struggle with food security. Donate to the Food For Neighbors Holiday Meals Program!
Donate: https://www.foodforneighbors.org/home/holiday-meals/
Our school is partnering with Food For Neighbors to provide some of our students and families with a $50 gift card to a local grocery store. Your gift will help your neighbors to put food on their tables this Thanksgiving. The goal is to raise enough money for Food For Neighbors to provide a total of nearly 700 of the $50 grocery store gift cards to 24 participating schools, which includes ours!
