Nixon Elementary Weekly Update
November 30, 2020
Remote Learning Extended
"...we have applied for the waiver for November 30 - December 11, but if conditions improve throughout the week of November 30th, there is a possibility that students may be able to return by December 7th. If that is possible, we will communicate by December 3rd to district families. Otherwise, students should plan to return to in-person instruction on December 14th."
Please keep an eye on your email this week so for any updates to our current learning plan and if we will return in person before December 14th.
In addition, I want to remind families of our in person learners (who are temporarily remote) that our school day has been extended to a full days Monday-Thursday with virtual announcements starting at 8:50, lunch running from 11:30-12:50, and a dismissal time of 3:50. Our Friday early release schedule will remain the same (8:50-2:20, lunch 11:30-12:40).
For all of our learners and their families, we have a new batch of materials to pick up at the school starting Monday November 30th from 7:45-4:15 pm. Please make a plan to come up to Nixon to collect your learning materials. In person learners (who are temporarily remote) will have school supplies from our on site teachers. Remote learners (who have been remote all year) have materials created by district teacher leaders that your children will need for the next 6 weeks of online learning.
If it does not work to come to the school during those hours, please contact the main office or Mrs. Goebel to schedule a separate time to come to the building to collect your child's learning items.
Lastly, I want to remind families that we are able to pick up meals for all Nixon families during this time while all Nixon learners are remote. If your family needs breakfast/lunch and is not able to get to one of the food sites, please fill out this form and we will have Nixon staff meet you to drop off bagged meals at one of the pick up locations between 11:30-12:00 pm. If you have not filled out the form before, but would like to there is still time!
I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing break,
Jeni Goebel, Principal
