Department Round Robin on Jan. 16
The morning of Jan. 16, students in grades 8-11 will participate in a round robin to hear from each of our high school departments. Students will learn about the classes offered by each department, as well as the course that are recommended for specific career pathways. This will help our students prepare to select the right classes for themselves when registering for 2024-25 classes in February this school year.
Celebrations ๐
December Senior Student of the Month
Holiday Band & Choir Performances
Music is a magical part of celebrating the holidays, and our band and choirs did not disappoint! Our high school choir sang at the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Daggett Park, studentss performed at the holiday choral and band concerts, and our chamber choir performed the annual Madrigal and caroled at area residential facilities.
Reminders โ
High School Semester Ends Jan. 12
The fall high school semester ends on Friday, January 12. Students will take final exams in all of their classes on Thursday, 1/11 (during Hours 2, 4, 6, 8) or Friday, 1/12 (during Hours 1, 3, 5, 7). Encourage your student to prepare for their finals to finish the semester strong!
The revisions adopted last summer in the Jr/Sr High School grading policy require students to earn passing grades in each of the power standards (typically 3-5 per course) for their course to earn an overall passing grade for the semester/trimester. For example, students taking an English class must earn a passing grade in the four power standards for that class (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) in order to pass the class. The overall grade and power standards for your student's classes can be viewed in the Infinite Campus parent portal. If you have questions about your student's progress in a class, don't hesitate to contact their teacher.
Junior High Spelling Bee ๐
Spelling bee season is coming up! We will administer a paper spelling test to all junior high students during W-I-N Time on Wed, Jan. 3. The top students will compete in a live spelling bee on Friday, Jan. 12, to determine who advances to the Badger State Spelling Bee in Madison on March 16. Here is the list of practice words for students to review to prepare. Consider taking time to practice the words at home with your student!
