/ˈmīn(d)f(ə)lnəs/ - mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.
SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT MEETING
The entire Special Education Department assembled in the Learning Center at Main Street Middle School. The meeting was led by Patrice Glover, Special Education Coordinator and the department secretaries, Eve Shelton and Cristina Chavez-Trujilio. Process, procedures, timelines duties, fidelity of the IEP process and reports as well. A special recognition was given to veteran teacher, Sandra Conte, Psychologist Wendy Salisbury and Francisco Maldanodo for their exceptional work.

SLP's & SLP-A's at October Meeting
Ten of the district's Speech Language Pathologists and Speech Language Pathology-Assistants assembled on October 11, 2019 for their first official meeting in two years. Special Education Coordinator, Patrice Glover who is also a Speech and Language Pathologist with national certification and licensure in multiple states will lead these meetings. The team of specialists will continue to meet monthly to discuss caseloads, MBT Billing, Siras, MCBH Referrals, CEU's, training opportunities, resources and many other related topics. Several of the team members are new to the district, and some are recent graduates of California Universities with Master of Arts Degrees. The meeting began with a calming mindfulness activity with facilitator Angela Ehrlich, pictured below.

Allergic Reactions
An Emergency Plan for students with allergic reactions to nuts and shellfish requires administration of the Epi-Pen and/or Benedryl.
Insulin Dependent Diabetes
Emergency Plan includes procedures to follow for the administration of Glucagon.
