Where our future is anchored in learning!

Boals News

Dear Boals' Families,

It is hard to believe that we only have three weeks left of school. We have many exciting events taking place over the next few weeks. The first big event is our Volunteer Breakfast. We are so thankful for all of the Boals' families and friends that help support our school and volunteer their time and energy for our campus each day.

To show our appreciation, we will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on Friday, May 20 from 7:45-10:00 am, in our Boals’ Library. An invitation is attached below.

This will also be the morning of our Field Day. Coach Gallagher and Coach Coleman have been working hard preparing for this day, along with our PTA Field Day Coordinator, Mrs. Allie Moore. We are excited about a full day of fun for our students starting at 8:30 that morning.

**Please review the important Field Day reminders below from Nurse Olson.

Our End of the Year Parties will be held on Friday, June 3rd.

The parties will be staggered through the day and will be located in the gym. Here are the scheduled times:

4th grade 8:30 am

3rd grade 9:30 am

5th grade 10:30 am

Kindergarten 11:30 am

1st grade 12:30 pm

2 grade 1:30 pm

In an effort to help speed up the visitor registration process for our End of the Year Party Day, June 3rd, please pre-register using the following link: http://goo.gl/OVL3cZ

**Only visitors who have previously had their drivers licenses scanned will be able to pre-register. All other visitors are required to check in with the office to obtain a visitor’s pass.

On Friday, June 3rd we will also be having our 5th grade awards ceremony at 8:30 a.m. , in the cafeteria. Prior to the awards ceremony, at 8:15 our 5th grade students will be taking their “Walk of Fame” throughout each POD ending in the cafeteria for the awards.

At 1:00 on June 3rd, the 5th grade students will be providing our campus with their annual Talent Show. This will be located in our cafeteria.

All parents, family and friends are welcome to join in the festivities.

In gratitude,

Christina Beran

The online registration must be completed whether or not your child will be attending Boals, a different FISD campus or leaving the district. If the InfoSnap registration is not completed by May 31, your child will be scheduled to be withdrawn from FISD for the 2016-2017 school year.

If you have not yet received the email invitation, please check your "spam" or "junk" email folder. If you still cannot locate the email, please contact the Boals Data Clerk, Lori Nunes, at cochranl@friscoisd.org or 469-633-3307.

A Message from Nurse Olson

Field Day Reminders from Nurse Olson

Dear Boals Parents,

Field Day is coming up on May 20th! This is an exciting annual tradition at Boals. We will have a great day of fun and games! It will be hot out, and the kids will be outside most of the day. Please be sure you send your child to school with a water bottle to help them stay hydrated. Please send them with a towel too. There will be events involving water, and the kids WILL get wet!

There are a few things you need to be aware of regarding seasonal allergies, sunscreen and asthma. Please take a moment to review this information to help your child have a great field day!

SEASONAL ALLERGIES: The students will be outside playing in the grass all day. If your child has seasonal allergies, please administer their allergy medicine to them before school on Field Day. FISD does not provide allergy medication, so there is no allergy medication available in the clinic.

SUNSCREEN: Please remember to put sunscreen on your child BEFORE they come to school on Field Day. That way you know they’ve got it on and that it was well-applied. FISD considers sunscreen to be a medication, so it can’t be sent to school without paperwork being completed by your child’s doctor. FISD does not provide sunscreen for students, and teachers may not apply sunscreen to students. Students may not bring sunscreen to school without this paperwork. You are welcome to come to Field Day, and you may bring and apply sunscreen to your own child as needed.

ASTHMA: If your child has asthma and it is possible that they will need asthma medication during Field Day, please be aware of the following:

Per FISD Policy, all asthma medications are to be kept in the clinic and will be administered by Nurse Olson. Students are NOT allowed to carry ANY medication at school unless their doctor has completed a specific form which must also be signed by the parents, nurse and principal.

If your child has an inhaler, it will need to have the Rx label attached either to the box it came in or the inhaler itself. Please also send in your child’s spacer if they have one. If you no longer have the label or box, your pharmacy will be happy to print a new label for you for free.

If your child uses nebulized asthma medication, it has to have the Rx label on the box and I will need the mask, chamber and tubing as well. I have a neb machine here in the clinic that we can use. If you no longer have the label or box, your pharmacy will be happy to print a new label for you for free.

Please go to the following link on my website to find the forms you will need to complete and submit to me along with your child’s asthma medication:

https://sites.google.com/a/friscoisd.org/boals-nurse/printable-forms/required-paperwork-for-all-medications-or-medical-conditions

Please be specific about the medication and amount of medication your child needs {For example: "Two puffs of Albuterol inhaler every 4 hours as needed for asthma symptoms”.}

If your child’s doctor has already given you an Asthma Action Plan, I will gladly accept a copy of that, or make a copy to keep in the clinic if you bring it in to me. At the absolute minimum I need the “Parent Request for Medication Administration at School” form before I am able to administer asthma medication to your child at school. Having an action plan from your child’s doctor as well is highly encouraged.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I’m always happy to help!

Sincerely,

Sue Olson RN, BSN
