Happy New Year!
As you may be aware, we have some capital improvement projects occurring at Washington this year. Including but not limited to some heating/cooling, safety, and accessibility projects are the main focus areas. With that being said, there will be some improvements within classrooms and library. Over break, our ground level hallway floor and library floor were prepped for new flooring, which may not be installed until spring break or summer. Some additional work is needed in the library, but hopefully by next week students can visit the library to check out some books!
As I learn more about the timing and scale of projects, I'll share more details.
Happy New Year!

Ground Floor Hallway w/ tile removed headed to library

Winter MAP Testing Kindergarten thru Fifth Grade
We give students MAP tests to determine your child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year, and from year to year in the areas of reading and math. SK through 5th grade will use chromebooks in their classrooms to complete the MAP tests.
MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to be appropriate for your child’s level of learning. As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing. Each school year, students at the elementary level take the tests during Sept/October, January and May. Following each testing period, you will receive a report showing your child’s growth. If you have any questions about MAP testing, please contact your child(ren)’s teacher.
Schedule for Winter MAP Testing @ Washington:
Week of January 6th Winter MAP – Reading SK-5th
Week of January 13th Winter MAP – Math SK-5th
Week of January 21st Winter MAP – Makeups SK-5th
Fire Drill
We practiced a fire drill at Washington yesterday. Staff and students did an excellent job leaving the school building. I wanted to make you aware incase your student came home last night and talked about it.
PTA Updates
Happy New Year! Please consider volunteering this year.
Math and STEM Night- January 23rd ** we currently don't have anyone to help with this
- Mathnasium will be doing the majority of everything. We will need to just get a STEM project from Mrs. Kimmel. Also, coordinating volunteers and any type of snack
Timberwolf Trot- Help us get amazing incentives and donations for this year's Trot. This can be mainly done from home.
If you are interested in helping out with these two or any upcoming activities please reach out Denise (denisevancuyk@gmail.com) or Laura (lgeisler28@gmail.com)
