Resurrection-St. Paul School
News and Notes
This week is the holiest one of our liturgical year. It is the one we have been preparing for through our Lenten traditions and practices these past forty days. This is the time when we are called as Catholics to fast, give alms and pray. As we enter the Paschal Triduum, let us take the time to reflect on our faith journey and our relationship with Jesus Christ? Have we:
- prayed, not for our own needs, but also for the needs of others and have we offered prayers of worship and contrition?
- fasted with the spirit of cleansing ourselves for the greatest gift, the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins?
- given alms, in our words, thoughts, and actions to use our gifts for good and to uplift those in need?
Our students and faculty have been observing Lent with great focus and intention in keeping with our mission as a school, as well as the mission of Catholics. It is our greatest honor to share our faith with our greatest treasures, our students. Many in our community right now are in need of our faith, hope, and love. You may have noticed our prayer list grows each week. This Easter season, please say an extra prayer for all those in need of God's great healing presence, whether emotionally, spiritually, or physically.
Easter break is finally within sight. It has certainly been a long stretch since our last "vacation." May we use this time off to find respite from our crazy schedules and from all the fears, burdens, and challenges we carry like an albatross around our necks. Let us find comfort in each other, let us find joy in our faith, let us breathe deeply and enjoy God's gift of creation.
When we return from Easter Break, we will have a whirlwind of community building, academic, and faith-based events. Please make sure to mark your calendars for all that is to come in the final month and a half of school. We have so much to celebrate and be thankful for in our RSPS community!
Blessings,
The RSPS Administrative Team

Paschal Triduum 2019
"The Triduum (TRIH-du-um) is the time of the Church year when we celebrate the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This three-day celebration begins with the Holy Thursday Mass and continues on Good Friday with the Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion. At the end of this liturgy, we leave the church in silence, waiting to celebrate the glory of our Lord’s resurrection. Then, on Saturday at sundown, the Church re-gathers to celebrate the final, and most grand moment of the Triduum: the Resurrection of our Lord." Good Manners: A Medieval Quest for Polite Behavior
It’s the Middle Ages, and a wicked spell has been cast on the kingdom: good manners have suddenly disappeared, and it’s up to Sir Gwendolyn and Sir Dancelot to bring them back. The two knights (both relatively new to this “quest” thing) have no clue what to do, and of course, things go terribly wrong. But luckily for the kingdom, they run into just the right characters to help them (re)discover polite behavior. You won't want to miss this production!

Executive Board Position Openings for the 2019-2020 School Year
It is that time of year, HSA Executive Board election season!
Per the Archdiocese of Baltimore's HSA/PTO Manual for Catholic Schools:
Terms of Office (page 22)
Officers of the HSA/PTO generally serve a term of one year with the possibility of a second consecutive term. Officers who have served two consecutive terms may be re-elected to the HSA/PTO after a lapse of one year.
- Officers include a President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary (responsibilities for this office may require both a recording and corresponding secretary).
- The Officers, with the Principal and chairs of standing committees, form the Executive Committee.
Process for Electing Officers (page 19)
The President, in consultation with the Principal, appoints an ad hoc nominating committee chair who appoints four additional committee members. The nominating committee members are not members of the Executive Committee.
Members of the nominating committee are not eligible to hold an officer position. The Principal is an ex-officio member of the nominating committee.
The nominating committee:
- conducts an active, open search for HSA/PTO officer candidates from the general membership.
- develops a slate of two candidates per office (if possible)
- reviews the slate with the Principal
- contact the candidates, explains the duties, and determines their willingness to serve.
- presents the final slate to the general membership one month prior to the election at either a general meeting or in writing
The following HSA Executive Board member positions are up for election for the 2019-2020 school year. Elections for these officers will take place at the end of May:
- President
- 1st Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
If you are interested in being nominated or would like to nominate someone else for one of these positions, please contact Karen Murphy at kmurphy@resstpaul.org.
Committee Chair Openings
Are you interested in becoming a part of the HSA, but don’t have time to commit to a year-long position? Consider becoming a committee chair member!
The HSA would like to incorporate some new “fun”draising opportunities and community building events next year, but we can’t do it without your help!
Please see the attached flyer below for volunteer opportunities as a committee chair member. We are currently looking for people to lead (and join!) the following committees. Per the info on the flyer, if you are interested, please e-mail hsa@resstpaul.org.
Please see the Minutes from the April 8th General Meeting (attached below)
